This is my go to game when I feel like taking over something 4x style.

I started playing Project Zomboid way before it was on steam and I have seen it improve over time to be a great zombie survival simulator. Very detailed and fun to play.

***Edit***
Since my last review (A18.4) a lot has changed, Many things have been cut or changed not for the better detracting from the experience and making the survival component less enjoyable. I feel like the changes have made the game less fun over all. Additionally offering paid DLC of two outfits that were teased as being in version 1.0 is in my opinion beyond a joke.

While the Game still looks amazing, has great Points of interest to explore, the changes to the mechanics have always felt to be anti player / Anti fun.

If I was contemplating to buy 7 days to die today I wouldn't. I would focus on other survival games instead.

To the devs, the first question you should ask yourself before changing something is "is that change going to increase enjoyment or not!"

4/10 - buy only if you like your open world to be a linear experience.

***Previous reviews***

I have been playing this game on and off for a while, watching it slowly improve over time and add new features. This game is good for those who like to create while having the difficulty of trying to survive at the same time. However after a while you will become self sufficient and the hordes become a annoyance.

Overall it is a fun game and if you like crafting games with a hint of Zombie then this is up you alley.

7/10

*** Another hundred hours Review (A18.4)***

100 hours further on and I have to say the game has improved a lot. The fact that houses and buildings are interesting dungeons of sorts, the wide range of craft-able items and the fact I can now make a 4x4 and cruise around in style.

Would I recommend it - Yes, Still for those that like crafting survival games and there are many now days to choose from but if you are looking at a new one give this a shot. You wont be disappointed.

8.5/10

City Builders, I have been playing them since the original Sim City (showing my age) and have always been looking forward to the next one. Then came along Simcity (2013). Happy to have a new city builder on the way, hoping it will surpass Sim City 4. Boy was I wrong. I lost faith in city builders, EA had murdered another studio that I was a fan of (I still mourn for Westwood Studios), I thought all was lost and the genre would fade into obsurity.

But then Cities: Skylines appeared, timid and still hurting from the brutal betrayal that was Sim City I kept my distance. I didn't want to fell that pain again, I held off pre-ordering just to make sure. Carefully looking through the eyes of You Tube lets plays I saw rays of hope and a chance for redemption for the genre. I bit the bullet and bought it and loaded it up.

First thing I thought was it was so simple and elegant, Charts, overlays and information waseasy to ready and understand. Secondly It worked without issues, no bugs that caused to to crash at a drop of a hat. My eyes started open more, my smile was returning. I continued to dig deeper and deeper and started to like what I saw. CO had resurected the city building genre like a pheniox from the ashes.

+ The map was realistic, I could have my suburbs and out lying towns if I wanted
+ I could annex addition land next to my city to allow it to expand
+ zoning districts to customise my suburbs
+ using public transport effectively but having a mix of Buses, subways and trains
+ Overpasses and the ablity to make complicated road networds should I desire
+ The real modelling of agents, They have an actual house and job
+ The ablity to make assets, while I'm no good at modding the inbuilt tool means I can produce things that I need and share them.
+The fact I can play this offline, I travel alot for work and being able to play this on the move makes thats times away better.

But it is not all sunshine and rainbows. There were a few grey clouds floating around by city.
- Traffic acts stupid and 3 lane highways soon have single lane traffic jams
- Chirppy, was annoying me non stop until I had it terminated with a mod
- The lack of a tree brush (fix with a mod), but should be standard

But those clouds seem to be clearing, the ability to Mod out thes grey clouds gives this city builder a bright future. A future where creativity can be cultivated. Sim City 4 set the bar that needed to be exceeded and so far Cities: Skylines has risen to the task. Only time will tell how high that bar will be set once Cities: Skylines finishes it's unstoppable march towards greatness.

If by some chance you are still sitting on that fence, still hurting from EA's pinapple that was Sim City (2013). Don't worry. Cities: Skylines is here to nurse you back. Take comfort in its warm embrace and enjoy the city builder that doesn't take you for granted.

Extremely fun and it just keeps getting better.

It does have a steep learning curve and it will take some time for you to get the hang of it but don't give up. There are plenty of You Tube vids out there that will help you learn the ropes.

So get out there and get exploring

FOR SCIENCE!!!!
