Short and sweet 3D Metroidvania type game. Explore different zones, get new abilities, do some backtracking, standard stuff. The emphasis here is big on the movement, so if you like doing cool slide jumps, wall kicks, wall runs, and combining all of those in different ways to go fast, you'll enjoy this one.

It's super cheap, it's super comfy, there's a good mix of being able to go fast and do cool speedrunning tech or just taking it slower and enjoying the ethereal atmosphere, like a lost 5th-gen console game. Something you saw at the store as a kid maybe once or twice... You never played it, but the box art stuck out to you enough to be a vague memory.

Also, Sybil has such a cool design. We love our goat-rabbit thing. Jackalope, perhaps?

Early Access Review
GHOSTWARE: Arena of the Dead is an interesting game, using the aesthetics of a 90s Arena FPS to tell a story that is self-referential about it being a 90s Arena FPS.

You play as Molly, a literal ghost in the machine who has been resurrected via The Wizard's necromancy to put you into a retro-fps of his own making so he can fuel his nostalgia trip. You have 5 other souls in there with you who are just as confused as you. You'll have to team up and fight against these other undead 'players' while trying to solve the mystery of what is going on.

From a conceptual standpoint, this is pretty cool. You basically play through every level twice, at least in the beginning. Once, you play through a short game of essentially Unreal Tournament against the AI, going through modes like Capture Points, Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag. Afterwards, you get sent to the lobby area where you can chat with each soul and progress to the next level or revisit the previous one. Revisiting old levels turns into a solo exploration bit, having you use your movement abilities to reach hidden areas to find secrets. Primarily, you find URLs, essentially lore unlocks that are presented like 90s websites. From here, you can piece together on your own the greater world of GHOSTWARE.

In my opinion, this is the appeal of the game, and if you're not looking to go searching for these URLs, you're probably going to find that the game is very short and pretty simple, at least at the moment. The guns are pretty fun, but the AI in the UT levels is pretty mediocre at the moment, with some weird pathing and generally just not acting like players. There is also some lack of polish in some of the shooting animations, in my opinion.

Towards the end of the first episode, things start to open up more and get more complex, which I hope is a continuing trend because it makes the game more exciting to play. I'm very intrigued in the story and the world, and the characters all have pretty charming designs in my opinion, so I'm looking forward to more character interactions.

Overall, I recommend the game if you're looking for something... different, I suppose. This is not a multiplayer arena shooter and this is not a linear boomer shooter. It is a sort of blend between the two that is tied together by a working narrative. If the concept sounds cool, definitely check it out!

A bit different from the first game, with a greater focus on combat and action. Each character has an expanded move set compared to the first and theres a dodge button that has you do a spin in place to become invincible for a time. It can be a bit tricky to get a hang of but it feels great when things are working.

The soundtrack is great, the character designs are great, the game is fun. There is a demo, so like just try it out and you'll know if it is your thing or not.

There is a demo. Play the demo and if you like it, you'll like the game. You shouldn't really need to read more but there is more if you want.

This game is fantastic. Amazing aesthetic and soundtrack, the gameplay is very fun, the story is a treat that I wish they fleshed out more because I want to know more about the characters.

I adore the Unknown and Paz. I really hope we get some DLC in the future (or a sequel) that continues the story and has even more awesome stuff in it.

PC is going to get a custom music modding at some point in the future, which is exciting as well. Looking forward to this game and The Outsiders' future!

A visually stunning game. A faster take on the souls-like gameplay, fun and difficult.

tl;dr -
This game is going to forever be one of my favorites. It itself is fantastic, but its underlying message is what truly makes it good. 2064/10. As Turing says, "There is no time like the Present". So why wait for the future to buy this game, when you can buy it NOW?

This is probably one of the best games I have ever played, and will ever play in my entire life. It's hard to explain exactly why, but I think I can break it down.

Read Only Memories has many great things about it, like its Soundtrack, its Art/Sprites, its Colorful Cast of Characters, etc.
But the most important thing about this game is it's Story, which it very well should be considering its a Point-N-Click. The story revolves around the disappearnace of one of your friends, and you assisting his robot, Turing, to find him. Interestingly, Turing is Sapient, meaning they think like a human.

I'm going to stop right here about the game itself, because the game itself isn't exactly why its so great. I mean, sure, the game is funny, heart-warming, sad, and intense, along with other things, and it will make you feel very mixed emotions about the short 5 Hour-Ish story. (That being said, there are multiple endings. As of writing this review, I have only completed the game once.)

The important thing about this game however, is its MEANING. Y'know how in High School and College English classes you have to "Analyze the Book" for it's "Theme and Meaning" or whatever? This game's "Theme and Meaning" is what makes it special and so important for people to play.

The most basic way I can say this, is that playing this game will make you think about societal issues, Future, Past, and Present. The game itself has 2 Issues prominently featured in it. Those 2 issues are Human Augmentation (Whether with Genetics or Cybernetic Implants) and Sentient/Sapient Artificial Intelligence. As the future closes in on Humanity, it will eventually become a real, non-fiction, debated issue. And when you see issues like this in a game, you think about real life, and what issues there are now. What is humanity limiting themselves from doing because it's too dangerous (like Sapient Robots), and what are we discriminating against for no reason at all (Like the Cyborgs and the Hybrids).

It's incredibly difficult to put how this game makes someone feel into words, so instead, I'm just going to tell you to buy it. It's $15, its not really that expensive. If you even wanted to, you could wait for a sale, because it's steam and there are always sales eventually.
