Cool concept that is well implemented

Don't buy this unless you are very interested in the series and can deal with a lot of game breaking bugs and generally poor QA. Treat it like an early access game which might be ready for a full release towards the end of the year once Immortal Empires is completed. They aren't even confident enough in themselves to describe their future (Q3 2022 copium) release of Immortal Empires (a staple of the game's content) as anything more than a BETA.

Tynan is one of the most transparent developers I have ever spoken to. Now more than ever, you have to be very careful about buying into an early access game. Many early access games have faded into obscurity or failed to deliver on any of their promise. RimWorld is not one of those games. The modding community for this game is already great, and will be made even better with workshop support. Whether you're a masochist that doesn't mind your entire colony being decimated every other day or a casual base builder, the game and the modding community has something to enhance your experience. Every update comes with a ton of new features to try out.

If you like Prison Architect, this game is probably right up your alley. You have to manage all aspects of your colonist's lives: their joy, moods, health, food, living spaces...

I recommend checking out the Twitch community for RimWorld if you are debating whether or not to get the game. Sacriel is probably one of the biggest streamers that plays. However, an entire other community has evolved for the game as well. There is a group that does speed running for the game (you can launch a ship to escape the world) to see who can get off the planet first. These streamers (ZeebosZone, disnof, spartyon7) play at the highest difficulty and often with storytellers that can send multiple raids each day. They also do other fun challenges, such as the Ice Sheet challenge (starting off on the coldest map seed and trying to survive), or the Cannibalism Only challenge. The fact that there are so many different challenges and restrictions you can make for yourself is one of the greatest things about this game and ensures for a ton of replayability.
