I wanna say, it is abominable that this game does not have overwhelmingly positive reviews. It is staggering to me how many people don't suggest this game to people because "it may not be what you're looking for".

Tunic is one of the best *PUZZLE* games I've ever played. Because if you want to really experience all of what Tunic has to offer it does lean hard into puzzles. Much of the game doesn't require you to solve puzzles, but if you just want a Zelda Souls-like then you might feel a little left out towards the end of the game.

It's this fun amalgam of exploration, adventure, huge difficulty spikes, and incredibly rewarding puzzle solving. Most of my time playing experiencing this game was on the train ride home from work with my tablet in hand, slowly deciphering the game's most hidden secrets.

And if it looks like I have 75 hours, did I at one point sit in front of my computer trying to desperately understand how a certain puzzle works, writing insane notes on gnarled pieces of scratch paper fully forgetting about the cute little fox and the many upgrades to acquire in this video game and forgetting that I had a game turned on my computer leaving it on overnight? ...who knows?

I've seen many negative reviews of this game stating it's a great game but they wouldn't recommend it because of steep difficulty spikes on the bosses and walkthrough's being needed. And frankly I don't want to be the Git Gud gamer but I hate to say it, this game is the emphasis of Git Gud on both Bosses and Puzzles. It doesn't pull it's punches and at one point on my pretty alright gaming laptop I did turn down my graphics settings to beat a boss who had really good looking animations. And in terms of puzzles, you technically don't have to solve everything in the game to beat the game (I say technically because sure, you don't need to solve any of the end-game puzzles but some gamers will be sad if they don't complete every single thing in a game in 20+ hours, it's ok if things take time).

If you want a truly challenging and rewarding experience, this game is good. I would advise you not look anything up, and come to terms that you will be confused for a large portion of this game. It's ok when you're stuck to look up help, and frankly if you just want to spoil yourself on everything at the beginning of the game go for it, but I personally wouldn't suggest you look at the last page of the new book you're getting either. It's ok to be confused, and it's ok if things take time. Pace yourself, get lost in the beautiful and colorful world as you continue to get further into a confusing and difficult game which rewards you for being curious, taking some notes, and solving some amazing puzzles.
