Icey is a really fun side-scrolling action game. The main character, Icey, uses various combos and a quick dash mechanic to fight enemies and bosses. The combat is good, it's fast paced and feels very fair for when you get hit.

The story is basically "go kill enemies", however, what makes it pretty unique is that the game is narrated to you by the developer. The narrator basically tells you to do things and it's up to you if you follow his lead or not. This leads to many funny moments as he gets more annoyed that you're not playing the game properly. This was a really unique aspect and the game would be just fine without it as a great game but I'm so glad it is in there as it adds so much fun dialogue.

It must be noted that Icey is a very short game. I did my first playthrough in just about 3 hours. Then I deleted my save and did a hard mode 100% playthrough. I'm currently at 6.7 hours. So 3.7 hours to do everything (on hard) is quite short.

However, for the price it is, and the enjoyment you get from the narrative and very fun combat mechanics I believe it to definitely be worth it. The soundtrack is really nice too, with a good mix of music.

All in all, it is a fantastic side scrolling hack and slash game with very meta humour. I had a lot of fun with it and definitely would recommend it to anyone.
