While I was initially on the fence about buying this game, having a load of my friends planning to play it on release pulled me over and made me buy it.
In hindsight, I shouldn't have done that, a waste of 60 Euros.

Gameplay wise, it's decent.
It's the standard GTA gameplay that we're all used to, but it's starting to show its age.
Sure, the game looks good, but all that comes at a price.
60GB install is killer, and to top it all off, I had to do it twice (that's Steam's fault, but still, 60 is a LOT).
It also causes loading times to be insanely long which can be irritating if you have to load stuff again and again and again.

But that's still manageable, the real downsides are FAR more irritating.
To start off, the game forces you to go through the prologue in single player and then some incredibly obscure (in the sense of, you know what it is) tutorials before you're even ALLOWED to play with your friends in multiplayer.
Really?
Furthermore, getting together with your friends in the game is an absolute nightmare. Seriously Rockstar, what part of "Good User Interface" do you not understand?
A decent interface is one where you can instinctively find any and all options and do everything you want without having to go through whatever else, not what we have right now.
For a game that flaunts its multiplayer aspect like this one does, it disappoints horribly.

To start a special game session (invite only, crew only,...), you need to go to the Offline part of the game, in order to then start the online bit again, which is accompanied by a long load time every single time.
Furthermore, connection issues are rampant, people get dropped randomly, most of the time when going into a job, only those that joined you in it will rejoin you in an open session leaving the others stranded and having to connect again...
The list goes on.

On top of that, they didn't bother implementing support for anything else but a gamepad or keyboard/mouse.
Joystick owners everywhere are annoyed with you now.

On a side note, I'm horribly disappointed that Rockstar decided to implement "silly" things such as tennis, or golf, but didn't bother to implement Oculus Rift, or even TrackIR support.
Both of which can make the game incredibly more immersive and enjoyable to play for a relative minimum of effort required.
Instead, we get the following quote:
"We see no reason to innovate in terms of business models. We prefer to be a fast follower. No one else can make our intellectual property -- only we can. I'm happy to have other people spend loads of dough on R&D."

This coming from one of the most successful game companies in the business nowadays, who are rolling in money so to speak, refusing to innovate. Instead preferring to just milking out their franchise to get even more money while they wait.
And the worst part of it is that this is a recurring thing in today's gaming industry.

All in all, I'm very much disappointed, even though my expectations were low to start.
I'd give this game a 5.5/10, merely due to the fact that it makes it such a frustrating experience due to the interface and matchmaking.
Had that been well done, the game would've received a solid 8.5/10 from me, but sadly enough, this isn't the case.

This is the last time I will be buying a product from Rockstar and I strongly recommend you do the same and don't buy this game, or any other game from this company.
