Stylistic and should be owned by any Dragon Ball Z fan, can easily be thought of as a love letter to the series.

The combat is quite basic but feels like it has a lot more weight behind it when hitting enemies, there is RPG aspects with characters gaining EXP after fights, this unlocking new ability upgrades and making the player feel much stronger when fighting lower level grunts.

The graphics of the overworld are good, there are lots of collectables and getting to free fly around iconic areas is always a treat, when it comes to cutscenes Dragon Ball Z Kakarot has 2 kinds, 1 is in-game that looks okay and does the job, mainly used for side missions and in between story beats, not a whole lot of movement and animation, the 2nd type is rendered, which is used for the important parts i.e. iconic scenes from the series, which in my opinion are amazing, shots from the anime/manga are faithfully recreated and look amazing, the developers - CyberConnect2 - are no newbies when it comes to big anime style cutscenes having done work on Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games.

The English voice acting is a bit strange but it's rare when it comes off as out of place. The lipsyncing also appears to have been done with the Japanese voice acting in mind, personally would have liked the lipsyncing to be done for English as well but understand it can be a massive undertaking to get both to work, and in no way is it a deal breaker
