After playing this game for a while, I've come to the point where it just isn't fun anymore. High-level players make this game a waking nightmare by exploiting every little cheesy mechanic the game has to offer. To be honest, this game is turning into the one thing it was trying to out-do. Sure, you can't 360-swing or bend over backwards in order to hit someone behind you (although, i have seen people try), but the more experienced and often toxic players are making it harder for others to really enjoy the game. If it weren't for the feint-spamming and unreadable animations, I would be playing this game for the rest of my life, but no matter how much the devs do, there's always going to be an upper echelon of players who exploit the game to the max. If you're looking for a first-person medieval fighting game, I'd honestly rather you not try out this game, if you don't own it by now. The "skill gap" is almost as bad as the economic inequality in most modern nations. To put it plainly, the top-tier, toxic players ruin the fun of the game by exploiting every mechanic in the game. If you want to beat them, you have to make your character do contortionist-level animations to even land a hit. There will be people who say I'm just "not good" or "just complaining about the game's mechanics", but there is a difference between using a feint to catch your opponent off-guard, and feint-spamming into an accelerated/dragged swing that does the same damage as a regular one. Those who are mad about the people who exploit the game end up exploiting the game just to beat them, and the cycle continues until you have a playerbase full of toxic, egotistical, man-children like Chivalry.

Video games are a ubiquitous part of almost all children’s and adolescents’ lives, with 97% playing for at least one hour per day in the United States. The vast majority of research by psychologists on the effects of “gaming” has been on its negative impact: the potential harm related to violence, addiction, and depression. We recognize the value of that research; however, we argue that a more balanced perspective is needed, one that considers not only the possible negative effects but also the benefits of playing these games.
