Early Access Review
Best game ever made. The art is gorgeous, the gameplay is tons of fun, the writing is quirky and cute. I'm going to get tattoos from this game.

Boring button smasher. People argue it's not a button smasher because you don't press random buttons, which is true because there's only a single button to smash. Boring af

I beat the game and found many secrets and this game needs a LOT of finessing and bug fixes. There are TONS of areas where your character can get stuck in a way that you can't even pause. There is a "restart" button in the pause menu, but when you can't even pause you have to ctrl+alt+delete to be able to close the game. The weapons aren't balanced very well in terms of both how they are used and the damage they do. The secondary weapons are pretty important and you can get screwed by having the wrong item pop up and accidentally override your current item, so to progress you have to backtrack to get a better secondary item. Controls over all are pretty clunky, I think this was an intentional choice to make the game emulate classic Castlevania. Personally I think if this developer wants to have a game that is suited for a broader audience they should add an option to make thje controls less clunky or something so that other people can enjoy their game too.

I'm currently giving this game a negative rating mostly becuase I don't think most people will enjoy this game at any price point; I have a fondness for this style of game and even I didn't really enjoy playing this one much. Beholgar has a couple fun spots and if you like the old-style clunky NES games you might enjoy Beholgar, but the mid and late game feels very uninspired

I hate to give it a bad review, this is technically a great and solid game, the biggest downside is that my wife and I played through this start to finish TWICE and we only have 5.1 hours played. This game is just insanely too short to be worth full price. Wait to get this on sale

THIS IS NOT AN EXPLORATION GAME. There is ZERO benefit to exploring, there is no deeper story or ANYTHING to uncover, there are no useful abilities to unlock, there is no real progression with hard limits or a purpose for getting "the best" stuff, it's purely a mental self-pleasuring game that you can play with friends.

Horrible game with zero thought put into progression or direction to guide players. I love exploration games; this is NOT an exploration game, this is random dungeon roguelike (I'm talking about the ORIGINAL roguelikes, NOT stuff like BoI, Gungeon, or Neon Abyss, those are GOOD roguelikes that understand the aspects that people enjoy and emphasize those parts) Don't Starve is just *disguised* to look like an exploration game, but there is ZERO benefit to exploring beyond hitting the next chapter point since you lose most stuff. All the aspects in actual exploration games that reward players for exploring are completely nullified in this game. Don't let anyone give you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like "lol git gud", my review is not aimed at the difficulty of the game, it's aimed at the fact that the game is NOT the genre it cloaks itself as
