Alright I'm finally writing another review on this game. There have been enough updates to warrant a positive review here.

I could list all the performance boosts that have been added. I could talk about how Fatshark needs at least a year or two in the oven to really get cooking. I could even talk about how the quality of life improvements and the itemization make the game better. I'm not going to do any of that in this review though.

I feel like Fatshark perfects the l4d formula. I love l4d2 for the arcadey quality of that game but the depth of this and vermintide are unmatched really. Every move has its place. Every combo needs a connect. The builds are fun and I play the game to create them. Mostly.

The main thing that keeps me coming back to these games is the intensity. I feel like I'm coming back to the western front because there's no other identity that fits. I can try to be sweat at some pvp game but the manditory teamwork, the fast-paced, do-or-die gameplay with some fething amazing music hits a spot that nothing else really touches. It's desperate and exhilarating and it's injected straight in my veins every time I fight just to survive.

Vermintide feels like the funeral of an old friend. The feeling of maybe you can do something to stop it or slow the rest of your band from the same fate. Darktide feels like the planet's done for but you're kicking because you have something to prove to the bastards that put you there. Take that as you will.

TLDR; I recommend this game for those who feel hopeless and existentially drained from the state of it all in the world.

I'm not one to write very many reviews or to gush my heart out about a certain product. I usually leave it to others to pretty much say what needs to be said and see if their reviews are accurate. I guess that could be a fault of mine but I HAVE to talk about this one either way. Instead of going into the nitty-gritty on how it plays or sounds, I would like to paint a picture for you in why I love it so much.

Anyway, the world is destined to end. Things crumble. Break. People are selfish and violent and care little about others. Even nature itself is starting to fall apart. In this bleakness, a hero is born to rise above and put these issues to rest by putting it out of its misery and ending it . You are not that hero.

You play as a little guy in an impossible situation. You are merely a side-character in life who just so happens to want to save the world himself. Heroes be damned. You have to fight uphill past the cynicism and pointlessness of fixing a world that's impossible to save. And at the very end of it all, is it even worth saving?

Wandersong's answer to that question is through the exploration of hope, love, and kindness to even the smallest of things. You don't even carry a sword. Instead, you spend the whole game spreading obnoxious kindness through every inch of the dying world. And even when it's at the most hopeless, there's still a reason why you AND the world should continue even if it conflicts with the natural state of the universe.

To put it another way, it's an anti-dark souls 3.

Things aren't meant to last forever and the only thing you do by continuing forward is to prolong suffering. But. Is giving up and letting it die the only option?

I think this is an absolutely beautiful game that's sorely needed in today's world. There is enough sorrow to break anybody and I truly believe that this game has helped me move past some of that hopelessness that is presented to us.

Anyway, the character designs are really cute, you can dance and sing whenever (to the point of annoying other characters), pet the dog, the music is good, and the message is excellent. The puzzles are somewhat on the easier side and there's a few bugs where your character may glitch for a moment but I've never actually disliked a game for a non-gamebreaking bug.

All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend this game and I believe it should be played by everyone; even if they skip talking to everyone and are less interested by the gameplay.

You can skip this part of the review if you don't like spoilers: one of the things I also found funny and genius about the game is the achievements. Your achievements that you collect in the game don't even belong to your character. They are the hero's. And there will be moments when getting an achievement will be sad. It shows that you aren't the main character and I REALLY like how it added to the message even if it was an insignificant inclusion to the game.

Ignore my playtime, I have a lot more time than this, but I liked the game so much, I also bought it on steam:

With that out of the way, how do you sell Farming Simulator 19 to someone? Tell them they will plow the same field over and over? Ask them if they like driving heavy machinery? Growing crops? General simulation stuff?

The answer is somewhat complicated, but if you like a chill simulation game with driving mechanics and you like farming in your games, this is for you. I'm not much of a farmer type of guy or anything associated with it, but this game makes it fun. Reaping liquid mola' off of stuff that you grew is really a great feeling. And compared to other games with farming mechanics (such as Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, etc.) Farming Simulator 19 allows you to move at a much quicker pace with bigger and bigger vehicles farming at larger plots. It's the progress in the game that keeps you coming back to play.

For you all who are curious about the educational/realism aspect of the game, there are things you can change such as whether or not you have to lime the field or if you want weeds growing. But regardless of the actual practices you will learn a lot about farm equipment. Next time you drive down some backroad and get stuck behind a John Deere Combine Harvester or see some farmer bailing his grass, you will be able to name what product he's using.

Next up is the modding scene. For the people who get tired of seeing some kid upload an anime mod, some strange gun, or turning skyrim into a tropical forest, those types of mods are not here. Not that anything is wrong with those mods, but they aren't really compatible with the game. I've found that the modding scene is actually really mature and puts a lot of effort into their mods. From adding seasons to the game to any type of vehicle, you bet you can find it. Furthermore, the game has its own modding built in so you don't have to download it from a different website.

Now it's time for the negatives. Luckily, I haven't found many, but there are some things to watch out for. First of which is the optimization. This game isn't very optimized. I built a modern pc this past year and the game doesn't like to play very well with it. The FPS caps at 60 and even then kind of stutters every now and then. When you get a lot of farm equipment in one place, it also tends to drop the FPS down some. If you have a good pc, you will be able to play the game at the highest performance, but just be ready to see some FPS drop to the 50s occasionally. The other negative is about the nature of large plots. There will come a time where you will drive over a field harvesting potatoes for 4 hours if you don't have big machinery. If you are into that kind of thing, then you won't find a negative, but there are some times where it gets tedious. Luckily, you can also hire helpers and mod them into becoming competent members of society.

In the end, I really like this game. It has everything I want in a simulator. From learning about a new skill, driving large machinery, mod support and you can use peripherals (like a steering wheel and joystick), the game really has it all. The farming is fun and the growth is there. So if you like that kind of game, this is for you.

P.S. I didn't touch up upon the dlc, but it isn't necessary to purchase. If you considered spending money to help the developer, that's fine, but my time wasn't hampered at all by not having DLC. The modding scene fully makes up for it.
