Team Fortress 2 is a one of a kind game. While many games have progressed to a point where TF2 can feel old, TF2 still has its own special feel to it. While many point out how other games have abilities, cooldowns, and ults. I think pointing these out wouldn't fully describe it. TF2 is built off of older design for video games. Before they wanted to simplify things for a wider audience. I'm not saying this is bad, but it's just something TF2 has unique to it in the genre. Yet it still remains easy to get into and hard to master. Often harder to master a single class than it would take to master several in other games. Yet there's still simple classes like Pyro, Heavy and Soldier. Realistically anyone can pick up these classes and get use out of them. Even if they don't tap into their full potential. (Looking at you, Soldier.)

But all of the good aspects of TF2 don't matter when the game is littered with bots. While community servers like Uncletopia lack bots, their players are too skilled or experienced for newcomers. Not to say that anyone who goes on Uncletopia should feel bad. There should be a place for more serious games of TF2. But TF2 currently lacks a truly good casual experience unless its an instant respawn server that runs 24/7 on 2fort.

This is ultimately why I don't recommend newcomers to currently play TF2. Casual is swarmed with bots, making a learning experience difficult to achieve. While most places free of bots are often sweaty or just slop content that won't provide a true experience that reflects the game. If bots were to ever be removed, I'd say TF2 should be played. As a shining example of how older FPS games like Quake used to be designed. Sadly, this just can't be the case with Valve's neglect.
