Early Access Review
Told the local hot goth witch that she would make a fantastic frog... I don't think she took it as a compliment.

But seriously if your a big fan of Farm games, especially if you grew up with Rune Factory and Story of Seasons (previously Harvest Moon) then this game is perfect for you. Fields of Mistria does an amazing job of capturing the magic of those older farm games while adding modern quality of life improvements like customization, the ability to pick your pronouns, same sex romance.

On top of all that you have a comfortable game play loop that is a good mix of challenge with comfy chill farming. The romancable characters are varied both in ages and personality, but even the non-romancable npcs are delightful. This game is oozing with love for the genre, charm, and so many delightful suprises including the sheer ammount of unique dialogue that each character has which makes talking to the NPC's feel truly delightful and worth your time.

If I had ANY complaints at all it would be that Olric and Merri not being date-targets is truly a crime against all cute girl / himbo lovers. Please dear game devs fix this tragedy.

1. There are different cat tribes you can make friends with.

2. There are cats that make you food that makes you wish real food looked that nice.

3. You can design a cat that will be by your side always.

Aside from the cats and how amazing they are there are also giant monsters that you can shoot, wack, slap, slice ect in the FACE the world is really really REALLY pretty and fun to explore co-op online is chaotic and fun and suprisingly friendly. Oh and sometimes the monsters come across each other and decide to duke it out while you sit back and watch as the giant pickle dinosaur WILL try tp swallow litterally every other monster whole.

So basically:

Cats: 10/10
Monsters: 10/10
Time Consumption: 100/10

I beat this game once already on the switch, then one of my friends got it for me on steam so we could play together. And honestly I am 100% ok with replaying the whole thing because its just THAT fun.

The building mechanics are simple and enjoyable, the items are nice and varied with multiple purposes, the characters are delightful, there are little secrets to uncover, and recipes to unlock, its a well made enjoyable game that you will probably enjoy if your a fan of anything dragon quest, love the dragon ball artstyle and sold your soul to minecraft at any point. The one issue you might run into with this game is sometimes NPC's give you like the DUMBEST quests ever and then you do them and they refuse to acknowledge that you did them because the size of your building is like 2 blocks off. So just be prepared for that!

All in all though I HIGHLY recommend it!

Whenever I feel depressed or sad I play this game and feel a million times better! The world is bright and pleasant, the slimes are adorable, and the plot line really hits you in the heart. If you ever feel down or just want to play something thats worth a smile I highly recommend this game.

One day your scrolling through Steam, you see this game. Against all higher instincts and better judgment you click on it, you spend maybe a few minutes browsing the steam page for this game chuckling to yourself over the excess DLC before clicking away. A year goes by and one night your friend gifts you this game for free. You shrug, I mean after all its a free game gifted to you for a game night with friends surely you think it cant be that bad and you most DEFINITELY won't play this game seriously.

You are a foolish idiot who has abandoned all higher reasoning. The game begins consuming your life haunting your waking moments and every night you awake in a cold sweat. In the back of your mind, a nightmarish beast haunts your every moment your every thought. It's HER MariePoppo destroyer of pride, hope, dreams, and any sense of luck. Your a grown adult yet all you can do is fantasize about punting this pint-sized monstrosity into a brick wall over and over. Your rage consumes you yet you can't bring yourself to play on casual BECAUSE ODIN BE DAMNED THIS IS A CHEERFUL SQUEAKY CHIBY ANIME BOARD GAME AND YOUR A GROWN ADULT WHO CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO END THIS CYCLE OF FAILURE.

You stop playing the game, you write a review, nay a warning to others. Spare yourself, do not play this game lest MariePoppo crawl out of your computer screen, take up permanent residence in your own home, eating your food, stealing your loved ones, and leaving you a broken husk of your former self.

10/10 will probably play again.

Drank strange goop given to me by a purple haired wizard and hallucinated that I was a tree.

10/10 would go on magical forest high trip again.
