Current Review: I was asked by devs to re-review the game after updates. I understand this is probably a boiler plate thing that's done semi-automatically, so no hate to whoever has the job of doing this. Instead, I'd like to direct my annoyance to the team making the game. First off, I still have had performance issues with the game despite updates. I have indeed played the game recently, though I started to give up when I ran into several "ruin the game" situations.

First, the issue of the game randomly crashing wasn't fixed when I played last. I just instinctively save now. No, instead, my issue is the still-to-my-knowledge unfixed bug that will, without rhyme or reason, remove all of the textures of whatever house you have as your home office. I dedicated three or four days of play sessions to completely redoing the OG starter home cause I loved it so much. I did custom furniture, designed a floor plan, and made a home that I really liked. Then, one day when I launched to play, every single wallpaper, floor tile, and ceiling tile had reverted to the default brick texture. To say I was deflated undersells it; i was distraught that all of my progress was gone. As if to mock me, while I stared at all of my lost work, the game autosaved. I haven't had any desire to play since. I see in the patch notes that this has been fixed, but I just don't want to lose my progress to similar situations in the future.

The game is early access, and I get it, but I'll play the game once it's been properly launched at this point. I'm tired of losing my progress seemingly at random. There's only a few hours at most of "story" content, but I wasn't getting this game for the story. I wanted a better version of HF1, and in some regards this is that still. The texture on furnitures is much more consistent, and I like the fact you can more heavily modify a home now. I just don't think it's worth it to me that you can lose so much really important progress still.



Original Review: In its current state, probably wouldn't recommend this game. While I am enjoying playing I lost about an hour or so of progress after a crash because the auto-save is so infrequent and the game fluctuates between running well and borderline crashing. My PC isn't amazing, but it isn't so poor that it shouldn't be able to run this game. The new painting style is also really annoying; I felt slightly motion sick after a few times due to having to move the camera around so much. I would like to like this game but I feel really jaded by the progress loss still seeing as I was having a lot of fun up until the crash.
