Short of Mario Party, just about the greatest online board game you can play with friends.

The best Hitman, outside of 2016, or Contracts/Blood Money. Patches often break some things, but the results end up being hilarious more than frustrating, if I'm honest. Game updates are regular, and Elusive Targets are still as entertaining as ever.

Excellent, well-fleshed sandbox game that deserves your hard-earned legal tender, even off-sale. Rare quality these days.

---THE MUSIC PLAYER SHOULD NOT BE TIED TO THE F***ING SEASON PASS---
Don't buy this. It's a terrible value proposition- $5 off if you were going to buy all the content packs, which we don't even know the quality of, even as of now, much less when the Season Pass released.

No additional missions as of writing this review.

TLDR: Another Season Pass with no upfront value and a $5 price advantage over buying the included packs separately (they're priced $5 each.)

Even for $2.77, I considered refunding this game just to get it out of my library.

If you have the original Prepare to Die edition, don't even think about buying this. If you don't-

...Well, mercy on your soul.

Early Access Review
Faster-paced, challenging, and just as fun with friends as the first. If you're even considering buying, just do it. Stands hand-in-hand with the first. Never saw a bug the whole 6 hours of playing thus far.

It's been a while- and some soul is present in this game, more so than I probably let on the first time around on reviewing this game. At the same time, while it's not exactly Assault Horizon, it's still no AC5, or Ace Zero.

Can recommend on sale, but temper your expectation on the narrative. It's not nearly as good, interesting, or politically-commentative as the others in the series.

2 years later, Bamco is still charging too much for skins, too.

The Best-Possible scenario for the revival of such a legendary franchise. (Sans the faces.)

When a legend was FORSAKEN
Nightdive worked its magic to revive that which had been

FORSAKEN.

Do yourself a few favors:
-Buy the game if you're even considering it, at least as a fan of the 6DOF genre- because while both this and Descent couldn't be more different thematically, both games were (at least in my biased opinion) leaders of a new genre that has only recently seen some new life since the very inception of it back in the '90s. The remaster does not stray from the original formula, instead only facelifting the long-since-abandoned PC version, which has been left to be remade by the fans (producing a version without the memorable sountrack, and stylistic HUD elements.)
-Make sure you turn the Music volume all the way up.
-Turn the Bike Computer voice to Brenda.
-Enable Incoming! sound cue (very helpful for those pesky Snub Turrets.)
-Enjoy the ride.

Even on Normal, this game may kick your ass, so don't be afraid to play on that difficulty. Total Mayhem should be only if you're truly looking for a speed thrill.

Be ABSOLUTELY sure not to miss out on this amazing soundtrack.

Before the 2.0 update: https://youtu.be/eB_KWbTRZf0

After the update: https://youtu.be/BnhhrH9qRlA

In all seriousness, First Assault had the chance to be a true entry into a franchise that has struggled over the last couple of decades to make a foothold within a medium so ripe, it seemed impossible to screw up any attempt at doing so; Yet, no developer thus far has been able to present a game even remotely worthy of such a legendary namesake.

However, the 2.0 update has since destroyed all hope of the friendly, competitive community coming back to the only game making a glimmer of headway within GitS' cursed games legacy- since we all know that Nexon never takes player feedback, nor cares for any of its consumers, and won't change the game back to how it was, or make actual improvements.

Also, the game is horribly optimized, and the engine used is dated- facts that definitely do not help its case against other shooters in current year, let alone the year of its release.
