This is a really cool game but it leaves a little to be desired. The game is very short and I can't really recommend it just due to the price alone being way too high, it's only like 7-8ish hours of playtime and there's barely any actual gameplay. For example, you barely get to use any of the weapons that the game gives you, and during one of the last levels, you get to use a weapon in a total of one fight and you only need to shoot the boss once. The puzzles were really fun and the graphics/atmosphere was some of the best i've seen. I just wish the $50 price tag felt a little more justified. (Luckily I bought it on sale for like 20 bucks but it still feels pretty high even then) This feels more like a $10-12 game in my opinion, it's definitely more of a game to watch someone else play instead of spending too much money and playing it yourself.

The first thing I want to get out of the way is the frequent freezing and crashing that occurred through all 3 of my playthroughs. It was extremely annoying when the game would occasionally freeze on the loading screen before I could even play a single mission. I don't know if this is hardware dependent or not, but it is something to keep in mind.

With that out of the way, this is one of my favorite games that I've played recently. The story is a bit cheesy and a bit predictable at times, but it fits the "comically overexaggerated" vibe that this game is going for. The story is fairly surface-level and extremely easy to follow. The cutscenes do a great job at explaining the narrative but not making it blatantly obvious what's going to happen throughout the story.

The world-building and characters is some of the best I've ever seen and this feels way ahead of its time. This was my favorite part about the game, you could walk up to 2 random characters and listen in on an entire conversation, completely optional. Sometimes it didn't even have anything to do with the story, it was just 2 characters talking. It really made the world feel like it didn't just revolve around you, and that the world was still moving without you even being there. The characters feel incredibly unique, and honestly I can remember every single character just based off of a single trait they have. I really cannot put into words how amazing the characters are and the chemistry they all have. One of my favorite parts was when you upset Max by being too loud, and to make it up to him, you need to collect toys that are around the map. It's completely optional, and you won't even see the quest unless you go into Max's room. I really appreciate small things like this and they always feel so refreshing.

The upgrade system is very simple and I actually like it quite a bit. It's something that you can really work towards as you play through the game, and most of the upgrades you can unlock just by using the games' mechanics. The stealth upgrades are easily unlocked just by using the stealth mechanic and paying attention to your upgrade progress.

One thing that I really liked was the option to choose your storyline. It really didn't affect the core story, but it gives you different dialogue, a different upgrade path, and changes a few cutscenes. It was very subtle, but I still appreciate the replayability it offers, and I think it doesn't hurt to have a minor storyline adjustment between playthroughs.

The weapons were very fun to use, but sometimes the guns were very situational, and I was only able to make full use of them in a couple missions, especially the AR Marksman, it felt like I could rarely use it outside of the laser mode, and only ended up using the non-laser mode for a couple missions. Also, the LaserKraftWerk was extremely overpowered in the late game. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it basically made almost every weapon obsolete near the end of the game, especially if you got the portable reactor upgrade. Other than that, I think the weapons were great, but some of them were a bit iffy.

I completed this game on I Am Death Incarnate the first time around, which is 1 difficulty below the hardest, and I don't know if it was because I beat the game twice before playing Uber or not, but Uber didn't really seem that difficult for being the hardest difficulty. It felt pretty forgiving, I know the true hardest difficulty is Ironman, but even still it felt slightly underwhelming.

This holds up very very well for being a game that came out over 9 years ago, I'm very excited to play Wolfenstein II, I hope it holds up just as well as this one.

Early Access Review
This game feels very unique for being a roguelike. The weapons and movement is simple but really satisfying to master and lots of practice definitely pays off. This game will feel extremely difficult at first, easy will feel like normal, and normal will feel like hard. It takes a while to get used to the mechanics. Each weapon plays completely differently from each other, and the roguelike system makes every single run feel unique. I really loved discovering that certain upgrades will bounce off of each other and create unique combos. I love doing high rounds or just a short run on nightmare with my friend.

This game is constantly updating, with an active developer constantly listening to community feedback, fixing crucial bugs or adding new features that the community has been asking for. Every update feels super fresh and adds even more replayability to the game.

This game has heaps of potential, since it's in an early access state, there is obviously still a few bugs. Overall this is an extremely fun game to play solo or with friends, and even more fun to master and see your hours of practice and learning pay off so much.

This game is one of the most unique games I've played. I love the way that the game feels exciting whenever you discover a new panel & it opens up new possibilities to discover how to unlock new endings. It feels like the game is constantly evolving and progressing in complexity as you learn how to unlock each ending. The references can feel a bit cheesy, but nothing feels that out of place. It's a perfect balance of cryptic puzzle-solving & that sense of excitement when you finally solve that puzzle that has been bothering you for a while. This game will always hold a special place in my heart.

This game has very satisfying movement & mechanics. It provides enough of a challenge to not feel boring and it's pretty fun to discover skips & ways to complete levels faster. Definitely one of the better free games I've played.

My only issue I had was some performance issues. I experienced frequent FPS drops which would cause my sensitivity to go crazy for a few seconds. Also low graphics & ultra graphics look exactly the same. I think low graphics should be a bit more optimized to make it feel more noticeable compared to ultra graphics.

one of the smoothest. satisfying, and addictive FPS games I've played in a long long time. Everything in this game just works together to create something special. Really hope this game continues to grow and prosper since the devs have created something really awesome.
