The gateway drug I will use to get my friends to play Gloomhaven with me.

I wish they told you that you literally CANNOT play solo with just bots before making you do 30 minutes of tutorial, customization, cut scenes, and loading screens.

It is kind of funny, but man does it take a while to actually get going.

I wholeheartedly agree with another reviewer who started by saying "It's just... missing something?" I can't succinctly word my complaints, but this is probably a game I would have refunded if I had realized it sooner.

The game improved from the alpha to the public test, so I have hope that it will improve even more on release.

I've played a good amount of these single player auto-battlers at this point. This one is by far the most well made and engaging. Many of the other battlers struggle to provide 'dynamic challenge.' Sure, there are often ascensions ala slay the spire, but your run-to-run control over the game is relatively limited.

The events in this game allow you to choose the levels of risk and safety you want to go for based on how your run is going. A limit of six units also makes units feel individually more impactful. There are a lot of small decisions like those that just make this game feel better than a lot of other similar games.
