A lovely hero's journey, compact story, little bit on the short side, but worth the price on sale.
The game takes around 6-8 hour to finishs, up to ~10 if you want to do every side quest and collect everything.

I did Bloody Whiskers mode for the 100% achievements, but would not recommend it. Janky hitboxes, unexplained core mechanics (encumbrance, poison, weapon attack speed, i could go on), animations sometimes bug out and go invisible (like the arena-wide attack of the Fly King guy), enemy sounds stop playing after a while. Punishing as the hard mode should be, but frustratingly unfair at times (the bugs are coded to not stun lock and 100->0 the player, but the frog ogres aren't. Good luck!).

The story is completely linear, no choices to be made (not even in the order of rebuilding the castle's facilities), but nice to play along once.

The art is distinct, well made and lovingly crafted, probably the best thing about the game. Doug Cockle's voice (Geralt from the Witcher 3) will soothe your soul... until you get to a hard boss and have to listen to the same sentence 25 times.

Fantastic combat, excellent narrative, relatable and unique characters with actually funny dialogues, just outstanding visuals and animations, it's hard to say anything negative about this game.

If i had to pinpoint anything, it's the completely RNG based loot system (at least for Veteran quality equipment), but it is somewhat offset by the daily quests and contracts, which can sometimes contain one or two. It's kind of frustrating to roll 6 out of 7 multiple times, only yielding inferior quality items you already have tons of, but i do understand that it's what makes those weapons valuable.

Very few bugs, most of them hilarious (like a rat ogre stuck under a certain roof on The Horn of Magnus level, if it happens to land right there after a leap).

I'd recommend the game to anyone who likes to blow off some steam by massacring and incinerating hordes of annoying little virtual creatures with a sledgehammer, zweihander, pickaxe, guns that literally fire flames, and a plethora of other options in the arsenal.
