Good remaster of the original Yakuza game. However marred with issues of poor level/fight design, reused assets and minigames from Yakuza 0 and poor game balancing.

Some of the boss fights are simply ridiculously poorly made and outright frustrating to complete. After the second last boss fight, I threw down my controller and turned off the game to watch the final scenes on YouTube. There were other fight scenes that were a pain to complete as well.

I don't appreciate what the studio has done to just reuse quite a few of the same mini-games from Yakuza 0 to Yakuza Kiwami. It feels cheap, especially just coming from finishing Yakuza 0 before starting on Kiwami. The part of the game where you need to pay someone money to continue was also a very poor choice of quest design. After the change of the rate of how you get money, from Yakuza 0, it was a chore to earn the money to continue the game. The mini-games were mostly reused so I wasn't very interested in playing them so I was just focused on finishing the story. However the choice was forcing me to play the mini-games.

Played for the story which was great. Some parts of the game felt like a chore to play. Fun karaoke. But otherwise an enjoyable Yakuza game albeit a few hitches.
