The devs deserve nothing but the highest praise. They work with the community and make sure they are delivering the best product they can.

Can't wait to see what the future holds.

You can see the passion that Aether Studios has. Coming from the closed beta to this is refreshing. An absolute fantastic job by the team. Can't edit for the full release.

As of right now I don't think I can recommend the game. It's almost there. The game feels like a more casual Dwarf Fortress/ Rim World but the foundation is not complete.

While playing the game, you'll encounter icons or descriptions that aren't clear what they are showing/describing. For an example when selecting a place to start your Kingdom, there is an icon of a rainbow rectangle. There's nothing that states what this is. I had to go to the Steam forums to figure it out. But it doesn't end there since it's just a number and not a range. I have no idea what scorching is or what would be considered freezing. I try to problem solve and click on the Desert biome vs the forest. Desert max is 30 while the forest ranges around 15-20. So does that mean 30 is extremely hot? No clue.

The game is plagued by these confusions. It almost tells you everything you would need to know but it's still missing things like the temperature.

I hope the Dev continues to develop the game but focus on the foundation before adding things like new Races. There is still pathfinding issues, priority issues, stockpiling issues, etc.

If you're a fan of Digimon World games on the PS1, do yourself a favor and play this. It's a wonderful game made by one person and they put in a lot of love into this.

Wish more scary games were like this. Phasmaphobia has nothing on this.

If you need to read a review to tell you how good this game is then you've been living under a rock.

You can customize a mech and explode things. How much more do you need?

New Update: Dev is trying to hide the fact that they traced art from Tactics Ogre, if you want proof here it is https://twitter.com/SrGrafo2/status/1730266400713855166?t=7k1fqnoYOs1L8NlrX8QW3A&s=19

Dev likes to delete posts on the forums.

Edit: Dev doesn't like the game being critiqued "please GIVE us a break. We have to reply to the hate on our Baby constantly. Use your basic human decency to understand you should cut our team some slack."

My post history is very reasonable with critiquing the game. Dev lost a customer on any of their games. If you're selling a product to customers, expect to be critiqued. That's how this works.

Also if you have a small team, then build a game within that scope. I am not cutting slack if you're selling the game for $30.00. Im going to compare it to other products in that price range.

I unfortunately can not recommend the game for a 30 dollar price and what it offers. You can get a lot more bang for your buck with buying Fell Seal. I have seen the devs wanting to do post launch updates/content so hopefully this will switch to a recommend when that happens. I would only spend $20.00 on this game for what it offers. It's a good foundation but that's it. It doesn't offer anything new to the genre which is a disappointment.

Cons:
Instead of changing classes for your units, you just promote them once. And there are only 2 choices when you do so. So instead of being able to mix and match abilities/skills you are stuck with that specific archetype. Strange choice given the genre this game is showcasing.

During battle there is nothing showing what skill you are using while it is happening. So when an enemy uses a skill, no names pop up to show you what they are using. I shouldn't have to memorize what each skill looks like to know what may happen.

Sometimes when you are selecting a skill, you cannot see the TP you have left unless you inspect the unit. Might be a bug of some kind.

Range attacks seem VERY strong. As you can see I have only played about 3 hours so I don't know if melee units get better at closing the gap or mitigate more damage. But in the early game, my ranger was doing a lot more damage and taking less damage than my cavalier's. The mission with the mage cave also showed me that you shouldn't rush your melee together but instead turtle.

You can not see enemy locations while you are placing your units at the start of battle.

No optimize gear option in shops. Not a huge fan going through all my recruits just to do a straight forward upgrade. Maybe the choices get better later in the game.

Skills are oddly balanced. You can put a point into increasing your health by 7 but at that point my cavalier had over 110 health. That isn't even a 10% increase. You can put more points into it to probably add more health but this is a minor buff considering I was doing 60+ damage in the beginning of the game.

Attacks feel weightless because of the animations.

If you upgrade, let's say, a fireball skill. The cost to use the skill goes up as well but there's no way to pick the lower rank during battle. You are stuck with the increased cost which is a shame.

For the almost 3 hours I played, I was not able to promote anyone. So it makes the game play feel pretty stale since each battle is treated the same way.

Maybe this changes later in the game but there was no treasure to find/nothing to collect on the maps? Even when a unit dies, they don't drop anything. This feels bad because I'm not being rewarded for anything besides when the battle is over. No bonus loot/items is a bummer.

Which leads to this point. There are no items other than gear. Again I don't know if something drastic changes as you play later but this makes fights and strategy stale. Even the early game gear there really isn't any cool choices to make everything was a linear upgrade.

Pros:
The music is fantastic.

The character art is very unique and love the style.

Has good potential.

I really hope the devs put in more content and features into this game. Right now the $30 price tag is a bit much especially when competition is priced around that and offers A LOT more to the table. So I left a bit disappointed after playing the game which is a bummer. I was looking forward to this game since the very first announcement on Twitter from Becca. Here's hoping the devs continue developing the game and give it the shine it needs.
