I highly recommend this game. While they are still working out some bugs for their launch this is a true "rerelease" of the original 97 classic game. It brings back all the right nostalgic feels that I remember from my youth. I expect to spend so many hours reliving this game.

So the good and the bad.

First off I would love to recommend this game. The controls, gameplay, animations, and feel of the game is solid. It presents itself well without making you feel rushed or segmented. It doesn't try to be more than it has to be. For the full 40 minutes I got with the game I can say the experience was good.

However that's basically where that ends. While I don't dislike the game it felt like a 40 minute demo more than a $10 game. I know also that you can purchase the soundtrack to this game but I can't even recall what the soundtrack sounded like so either it was too quiet on my end or it was forgettable.

The game itself ends where I felt like it should really have started. The ending caught me by surprise because nothing had really been resolved. Instead it feels like a giant pivot into the next stage of life for the MC. Even people we email back and forth with don't seem to really get fleshed out that much. I'm just not sure that they badly needed them in the game to be anything besides filler text. In the end I felt like the MC was isolated and alone in life because we didn't really see us interacting with anyone and even our email replies (outside of the scripted one line replies) aren't seen at all. At least I don't believe our email replies are ever displayed to be reviewed.

I may play through it one more time to see if I missed anything. I felt like the emails we got were very forced. While some made sense and seemed like they were well constructed others felt very rushed like the devs were trying to just push a narrative across. While I don't mind them making a narrative some parts felt contradictory to what would be expected or normal to see happen. There are a few gripes about the story decision making that kind of wreck the logic of the world. Like the corporation not assigned sales staff from what I assume to be their offices to manage sales and the lack of a receptionist for the mortuary. For a game that tried to make a point about corporate evils versus mom and pop stores it felt forced and unrealistic. The corporation just basically has a really slimey boss but nothing else is shown besides him so it comes off very fake.

Overall while the game itself was enjoyable aside from some minor story details that took away from the immersion the real issue is going to be the length. If this game was another 2 hours of playing as your own self-run Mortuary and interacting with people that would make this a complete recommendation. Discovering people's stories by talking to the relatives and loved ones would have absolutely sold me on this game. Could have done a type of connect the dots on info to recreate backstories and connections.

However the way the game was completed leaves you feeling like you just finished a demo/tutorial and are expecting the game to actually begin. If you can pickup the game for $5 you probably can stomach the less than 1 hour gametime. However I would definitely not recommend going into this hoping for more than a brief taste of what a good game can look like.

If you're looking to scratch a mortician itch there are better options than this.

Armello's outstanding use of theme, aura, and setting are the cornerstone that make it a wonderful virtual board game. Best played with friends this 4 player virtual game brings the best and worst rng to play over the course of a little under an hour.

From combat to missions to enemies to game design the League of Geeks development team worked hand in hand with their creative capacities and the community for a perfect blend of fantasy, adventure, strategy, repetitive gameplay, and lighthearted fun. A game you can play for 30 minutes which is the usual game length or for a couple hours to grind some achievements or different strategies. After you master a couple of creatures you can play against others in the Multiplayer. However I do recommend joining the Armello Community Discord to help you find other players since the game fanbase is still somewhat low.
