Early Access Review
Its alright honestly. Have been running solos mostly, as duos and trios are somewhat scuffed due to extraction points where only one player can leave (this isnt a problem if your friends arent loot goblins that sell you for a crumb of bread and extract without you). Have tried most of the classes, but only leveled the fighter to 10+ (he is so far my favorite to fight PvE). PVP is really fun, but very team comp reliant (as any other game really).
A solid 8/10 from my side. Will continue to play.

Doghsit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game with dennis eating cheeseburgers 24/7. Love having newest graphics cards and still stuttering every time i go into another area. Hope he finally GP Q´s himself irl.
Edit 1: I was asked by steam to revise my review, since I played for another 7 hours after initially writing the original one: Too many russians, new guns are fun, 2 morbillion people are cheating non-stop (but how could you ever tell its not like you can just spectate him after) and AI only targets you during fights, never the enemy.
In short, Dennis check mail tomorrow.
Edit 2 (15.08.2024): New update came out: COMPLETELY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. MENU UIS HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO PHONE GAME UI, GG DENIS, CHECK ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MAIL ♥♥♥♥♥

Great Coop game with friends. Occasional bugs, but nothing game breaking. Only 2 times so far that I couldnt log in due to overloaded servers or maintenance, but devs are actively working on that.

I played with 4 friends - absolute disaster. Countless save loads and restarts. Still rizzed Shadowhearth every single time. I have never touched a woman btw. GG

Would I recommend this game?

Short answer: Yes. Very fun melee/combo fighting BR. The BR elements are very similar to Apex: Legends, so if you've played that before, you'll fit in rather quickly here.

Long answer:
As someone who is primarily playing FPS and BR game titles (Hunt:Showdown, COD, BF, Apex, Valo), this game is a fun change of pace from all the gunfire as it is (mostly) melee-focused gameplay while keeping the "golden formula" of Battle-Royales (with the zone closing, ground loot, high-tier loot areas, etc.)

Now if youre someone like me and you might have already tried this game when it was 20€ on steam, but maybe you refunded, I would totally recommend you to get this game now that it is F2P.
NOTE: If you're interested in ranked, you need upgrade to at least the Standart edition in order to be eligible to play ranked modes. However, as of right now (23.07.2023) if you upgrade your game edition, you get a 40% discount for it, which is pretty nice.

Gameplay wise it is a good combination of melee/combo-fighting games (the only one I can name here that I played os (was) Hood: Outlaws and Legends) and a classic BR experience. If you have played Apex before or you're still playing, the BR elements are pretty much 1:1 copied over to this game (in a good way). You've got your ground loot "comtainers" that avard you with a bit of in-game money as well that you can then spend in a shop to get yourself some items.
They even implemented their own way of armor-swapping: There is this thing called the "Soulbloom Essence", which is essentially an extra item that appears in the inventory of dead enemies. By tapping "E" on your keyboard you can consume that Essence which grants you a small amount of Health/Shield.
So no missclicking in the inventory while trying to armor swap and then dieing because you failed to swap in time. In my opinion (even though i respect the skill-ceiling that comes with armor swapping in Apex) this is significantly better and makes fighting against multiple enemies a lot smoother.

There are air-drops, just like any other BR, which grants you high-tier loot. There are also other ways of getting high-tier loot in this game, but honestly, I do not want to spoil that one for you. All I can say is: If you remember the Pathfinder-Arena from Apex, this one is similar.

NOTE: However, unlike Apex, 2 key features are missing in this game: You cannot purchase, nor upgrade armor in the shop and neither can you upgrade your armor while fighting enemies (no EVO-Shields). Means you need to get lucky while looting and/or defeat enemies with stronger gear to aquire high tier loot. I had plenty of games (and wins) where me and my buddy ran around with blue armor, never had the time to take the purple / gold from enemies.

Which gets me to my next point:

Pacing:
Honestly the golden middle: Zones dont take remotely as long as in PUBG / Warzone (because of smaller map size / less players per lobby), but even late game they do not move as fast as zones would in Apex. This makes sense, since unlike gunfights that happen on range, in melee fights, you usually cant just instantly disengage to get to the next zone.
The late game damage of the zone is modest, nowhere near Apex' 2-3 hit down zone.

Ranged gunplay:
There are ranged weapons in this game, but so far (after trying every single one) I can confidently say they keep them on the down-low so to not make this game another Shooter. Which is excellent. I dont say that ranged weapons are useless, especially cannons and the repeated crossbow are very much viable as main weapons, however, because you can gap-close rather quickly in this game, they aren't perticularly dominant either (we will get to gap closing a bit later).

Melee gameplay:
I am not going to spoil anything on the combo-fighting sytem, since it is the core of this game. I would, if the game would not have gone F2P. But this way, honestly, just try it yourself.
As far as it goes for the melee weapons themselves, you have a modest range in different categories. Since they've already added the Dual Halberds since i started playing, I assume (/hope) they will be adding many more over time. But there certainly is something for everyone already.

Movement / Gap closing:
Unfortunately, no slide jumps into walljumps into octane stim side slide spamming into crouch cancels into b-hopping.
But, as any other game that involves parcour, it is rather smooth and so far I have no complaints to make about movement overall. You can (I think), like in Apex, infinetly slide when going downhill, though I haven't limit tested that yet. What I can say however is, you can climb walls infinetly, which is simply amazing considering you never have to make compromises when it comes to moving vertically. Especially nice since you never have to worry about being locked in an area and dieing to zone.

And now, the main attraction of movement: The grappling hook: Honestly, there isn't much to say. It reaches a modest distance (can be upgraded in skills), it is neither too fast nor to slow (speed can be upgraded via skills) and most importantly, you can spam it - meaning the only limitation in traversing longer distances (either horizontally or vertically) is really just your imagination (and the number of grappling hooks in your inventory of course). (Unfortunately), since there is a grappling hook strike in this game (meaning you can grapple enemies and they will get staggered/it interrupts their actions such as grappling themselfes or charging certain attacks), you are able to spam that too. With more than one enemy focusing you, this can get very fustrating as timing the hook strikes right can pretty much leave you permastunned for as long as they have grappling hooks available. I believe they might change this feature in the future or give us some sort of counterplay.

Heroes:
There already are a few of them, I assume they will add more. Generally speaking, you've got your fair share of damage dealers, supports, and tanks. So far (if I can recall correctly) there is no hero that comes with an actual ranged weapon for an ability/ultimate. In fact, I dont think there is a hero that would even improve ranged weapons, only heroes with abilities to counter them. Imo, this is very good (♥♥♥♥ you Vantage).
Not much to say here either.

That being said, I believe I covered the absolute base premise of this game. I can't tell you anything about the campaign, as I haven't played it yet, all I know is, there is one. Ah, and i almost forgot - unlike most BRs nowadays, yes, there is a SOLO only mode (even in ranked). Really nice. Skins/rewards for playing are plenty too (though this may be biast since I upgraded to the ultimate edition).

Hope this rewiew somewhat helped you decide whether or not to play. If I missed something that is key to understanding this game, feel free to add it in the comments. If I got things wrong, of course, state that in the comment section too.
Farewell for now!

(Im checking the "recieved product for free" because I paid for the game at some point but then refunded it, good decision since it became F2P 2 weeks later xd)

Great game!

If you are like me and you like to search for reasons not to do you homework or to learn for your next exam, Shakes and Fidget is just for you. The game is very simple - everyday you do quests in the tavern in order to gain dxperience points and gold. Besides, you can build your fortress, fight in dungeons and much more (given the fact that youve already reached the certain requirements - these are usually a certain level or an amount of gold). I dont want to spoil much more, find out for yourself....
I really do enjoy this game, it takes only about 1 hout a day to complete all the quests for the day (you can complete more quests a day if you spend money on in game currency - the prices are quiet low), but even when you log off, you can earn a bunch of gold - this makes this game so great!
Try it out for yourself and tell me what you think....
