My reason for leaving a negative review has very little to do with the quality of the game. It's game-play is smooth and enjoyable, generally well-balanced, has plenty of replay-ability, and it's art-style is second to none. That being said, the gratuitous sexualisation of female characters is frankly shameful. The introduction of Emma Frost, and her nearly completely nude X-Revolution "inspired" skin epitomises this continual commitment to portraying female characters as sexual objects. In browsing the official discord for the game, one is accosted with dim-witted justifications for this sexualisation, including that "it's apart of her character!" and that it's "comic book accurate."

It's as if these people believe that these character designs are simply natural law and immutable. This justification is predicated on an uncritical view of the comic book industry, which, in actuality, was almost entirely male-dominated, both in consumers and producers, and consistently - for decades - disseminating incredibly sexist and objectifying media. This normalised sexism within the community which alienated, ostracised and led to the harassment of female fans and creators. This exact same wide-spread attitude (which already plagues the gaming community) is being perpetuated here, It's disgusting, here are some comments taken directly from the official discord server.
"I might not be able to hold back if i see emma frost in that costume"
"WHERE ARE EMMA'S AREOLAS IN HER X-REVOLUTION SKIN?"
"i would let emma frost stomp my teeth out of my head just to sniff her feet"
"keep going emma frost im almost there 😩"

These people are not the minority, they are not the ones who are ostracised in the chat - that privilege is reserved for those who complain that sexualising every female character is wrong. I would ask whether or not this is the community the developers want to cultivate, but I think the answer is obvious. Instead of reflecting on how Overwatch's (intentional) depiction of female characters birthed virulent p*rnography (in 2016, Overwatch was the 11th most searched term on P*rnHub), the Marvel Rival developers saw this objectification as a means of profiting from 'servicing' fans - its disgusting and shameful.

Early Access Review
I have not been so genuinely terrified as I was playing this game without lights. Me and my friend were walking through the asylum with only lighters. We entered the room the ghost was in, without any notice, the ghost appeared in the corner, of course we couldn't see it though. It made a low grumbling noise, like from the Grudge. I had to take my headset off to avoid pissing myself. When I gathered the courage to put my headset back on, the bastard did it again. Never regretted a challenge as much as I do now.

This is one of the most uniquely profound experiences in my life, if you haven't played this game, you're missing one of the biggest sources of happiness you will ever find.

This is possibly the worst experience I have ever had in my life. Although, this taught me important lessons in perseverance and determination. I think for anyone to truly say they have lived a life worth living, they must've played this game. Without it, I doubt humanity will survive much longer.
- Thank you

Good game, I wouldn't play it for over 100 hours in total though... gets a bit boring.
