The right balance of headache and satisfaction. I haven't even touched the mods yet, but there's plenty to do in vanilla too.

I have been a huge fan of the Battle Network series. I'm just happy to see that someone had some love for it and decided a similar game needed to exist in this day and age. (Well, there's no RPG elements which I really miss, but hey this is a different game). I do have to say it's VERY difficult, and that's coming from someone who can beat the upgraded bosses in almost all MMBN games. So far I haven't gotten past the 5th world in a run.
I have to say the shuffle mechanic is an interesting way to handle spell selection, but honestly a Custom Screen would be better. It would be a way to give the player some breathing room in those very hectic battles. So far I haven't really found the time to look at the incoming spells because I'm too busy with getting hit by everything.

I think this also due to the fact that the game just throws you into the deep end without any real instruction. Flow? Trinity? Good luck figuring those out during your first 10 runs or so. A tutorial would be a very welcome addition, or at least a guidebook of some sort. However, while I compared this to Battle Network, mostly in favor of the classic, the changes make for a totally unique game that doesn't feel like a ripoff or desperately trying to nostalgia trip. That's why I'm happy to recommend this despite its difficulty, regardless of being a Battle Network fan.

I hate top-down racing games. I hate drifting with a keyboard. I hate Initial D fakers. I hate over-simplicity. I hate short games.

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS GAME.

I like it. The graphics are insane, it redefines freedom in certain ways, it's easy to research/chat/issue commands because of the AP (I hate the multitasking demands of some games. but this one has you covered). You can walk around. Story is quite interesting for what I've seen. Would buy on sale, but no way of burning 40+ Euro on it. At that price point, you can get your hands on a double/triple A game.

Conclusion: If this is on sale, you have 2 options:

1. This game: If you like playing a campaign, building, training and spending good time in a game.
2. The Strike suit series (around this game's sale price): If you like a good combat mechanic, good but quick story.

(I recently got Strike Suit Zero, and I think of it as this game's more combat focused brother.)

Everyone to their own opinion!

I got this game on sale. I gotta say, it was definetely worth 6 Euro.

Pros:
-Story is great (Control v2.0 gave me a good laugh, Control V1 was intriguing AF)
-A total of 4 different endings
-No DLC hassle
-Textures are great on my PC (I do not have a direct comparison with the originial, but I do have infinity)
-Combat system is very enjoyable (Spoiler alert: you WILL see the Itano Circus reference to Macross)
-The music+good voice acting

Cons:
-No shadows? The upped textures didn't compensate entirely for the loss of shadows. (In comparison to SSI)
-Repetetive missions
-Steep learning curve. You really need to practice before you can get the 'STRIKE FAST' achievement.

If you're very picky:
-The strike mode (mecha mode) might kill the speed of the game, since you lose all your forward momentum upon transforming.

In the end, buy this game as long as it's under 10 *whatever your currency may be* :D

Great modability if you don't like a part of the game, which is unlikely. GTA 5 killer in my opinion. (If graphics mod used)
