The game itself was fine. However, forcing me to use an EXTERNAL ACCOUNT after months of not having that is stupid - I refuse to do that. I will change my review if Sony decides to make this game stop being a paperweight and let me play with my friends without needing to shackle my Steam account to a PSN account.

UPDATE:
Sony has reversed their decision for to force PSN account linking. As a result, I can only enthusiastically support this game; it is a genuine labor of love that makes most AAA games look like dog water in comparison.

I fricken adore Shadows of Doubt. Here's a story from my most recent play session of the game.

Generated a new world, the first random job that I grabbed off of a job board was a photography job. I was given the deets on someone, found out their name was Mali Mertens. Broke into their apartment, stole a key, took a picture. Ez pz. I get a bunch of details on this person (blood type, handwriting style, fingerprint, etc) in the process

A few minutes later, there's a murder. Guy was killed with a shotgun. I find the person I just snagged a picture of for a stalker's fingerprints inside this guy's house, so I go check in that one person's apartment again.

They've got a shotgun, too. Fingerprints all over it.

Done and shut case. Bagged and tagged.

Buy this game if it interests you *at all,* I promise that it won't disappoint you.

This game is incredible.

I have not even gotten CLOSE to beating it yet, but it keeps me crawling back for more time and time again. It's addictive, and the ability to mix and match spells to make frankly absurd wands is an incredible feeling.

I DEFINITELY recommend this if you enjoy roguelikes and crying. =3

I just got this game and I've already played seven hours of it.

This is fricken awesome. It's super comfortable, even if it is a debt simulator. If you enjoy simulator games where you sit in relative peace and quiet and do mundane and routine tasks, I think you'll love this game.

I binged 9.4 hours of this game with only a couple of small breaks. This game is everything that I wanted out of a successor to CK2. I cannot recommend it highly enough right now.

This game is already amazing.

Your role in this game is to slowly cause a colony of humans/elves to go mad and destroy one another in their rage and mistrust. You have a whole suite of tools available to you to do this and apparently there will only be more as time goes on. I recommend this game for sure, especially if you're a fan of throwing spanners in the works of AI systems. I only see this game getting better as time goes on and the developers seem very active with communicating with their community.

This game is absolutely amazing. I can't recommend it enough.

You play as the ruler of a nation, a region of the nation, or even just a local governor (count) and you are thrust into the intrigue and diplomacy of the medieval ages. This game rocks.

This game is awesome. I think it's already better than Risk of Rain 1. I totally recommend anyone get it, especially right now where you can get the game and a copy for a friend! :)

Just make sure you know what kind of game it is! You will die, you'll lose. Come back in and try again. You'll get there. Good work, devs! <3

I've never played any of the Hearts of Iron games before this one, so I cannot speak on any of those. I cannot tell you how this game compares to the previous titles, nor what changes it has made. I cannot give you my 'hot take' on whether this game is more or less better than HoI 3.

However, as a newcomer into the series, I find this game to be absolutely brilliant. Foregoing the tutorial, I found the game to be intuitive enough for me to be capable of learning the mechanics on my own, without outside assistant of any variety. Even moving troops navally, the most obscure mechanic, was eventually discovered by me, and lead to my (almost) success against the Chinese in an abandoned Japanese campaign.

There are some issues with the game that I've noticed so far, such as the majority of countries not having their own, unique National Focus trees. I imagine that, as time goes on, those will be added. Another odd quirk of the game is the garrison function - instead of allowing me to defend my provinces as I wish, I must select an entire state, which then assigns my troops across the state seemingly at random. This has actually lead to entire tactical blunders that I was unable to defend against properly. Hopefully this issue can be resolved with them simply allowing me to 'garrison' troops wherever I please in my territory, so that I may make a line on my coastal provinces.

I could go more in-depth with this game, however, I won't. Get this game, or look up a playthrough on Youtube. It's an absolutely brilliant title, and Paradox deserves kudos for it.
