You've gone through your whole life being intelligent but you never applied yourself.
You only did enough just to get by as you chased other things.
You used your intelligence to share your vision of the future and how your life will be.
But the more you dream, the less you do. You realize your dreams where just fantasies as they are foiled by saddening reality.
But before you face the truth, you'll dream some more and then you ask yourself "Did my dreams let me down or did I let them down?"
There is no way to know, so you drink, you get high but no matter how far you cast your problems out into the ocean, they always wash up on the shore. Though that does not stop you.

Time starts to pass, you are past the point of self loathing, inside you feel nothing.
You have nothing left, all that remains in your closet is the exterior you put on to face the world.
The person that everyone thinks has it together.
They would never be able to imagine the state you were in this past weekend.
The days you spend without human contact. How can you ever return to a normal life?

You apply for a job because the only person you can talk to refers you to their supervisor.
They still know your worth, even if you are no longer willing to accept yourself.
After all, the people that tell you positive things at this point just don't want you to kill yourself.
But alas you get the job and your first day validated everything you have chosen to ignore in your dark times.


You are human
You are loved
People care about you
You are worthy
You are significant
Not all dreams come true
It's okay to fail

All of these thoughts come to you as you sit there with your head back.
You breathe deeply, as if to reclaim your soul.

And just like the beat, life goes on.
