Been playing this on and off for over a year now. Best live service game I've ever seen.

Feels like Elden Ring 2. Almost too much content for a DLC. I took a day off from work to play this, and I don't think I got halfway through. 10/10
It is much harder than the base game, but the people who are mad over that are mad because they cant stick to their overpowered one-trick build that got them through the base game. I think its a nice challenge, and forces players to experiment with their builds more.
There's a lot more detailed textures that cause occasional fps drops, but its nothing major. Mostly in areas with lots of vegetation.

It has everything that was so great about the original game, and the additions and changes that were made all enhance the experience. I put thousands of hours into the original game, and I see no reason why anyone would prefer the old version instead of this one. It doesn't feel like I'm playing a different game, but an updated and modernized version of the original, which is what a good remaster does imo.
All of the factions are playable, and are unlocked by defeating them in-game, which is something that fans of the game have wanted since 2004. The different map modes are extremely useful, especially for the campaign map. The merchant is a nice addition, and adds a small layer of strategy to the finances of the game. The terrain and units are brighter and more colorful, with more detailed variation depending on faction. The game also runs very smoothly so far.

The only thing I can complain about are the 3D model loading screen artworks. The original red and black silhouette artwork was very unique, and I wish they kept it. The newer 3D model loading screens are less appealing.

Great game. You can play casually if you want and just relax with building up your space agency. Or, you can really get into it, planning out each step to get first place for each milestone. It's the kind of game you don't realize you've spent hours playing, as it's easy to just click the 'Next Month' button, the same way you would think 'just one more turn' in Civ5.

Almost a year and a half after release, and it's still a big disappointment. The dev team has made lots of changes to the game, which has provided a lot of new content and variety to those of us playing since day 1, but few of these changes actually made the game any better. The changes only replaced broken or imbalanced mechanics with others. After playing this game for 323 hours, I've reached the point where I can't pretend that I believe the game will "grow on me" or the devs will "make it better". Hopefully eventually paradox will make an Imperator 2 that will not be such a disapointment.
