the day I bought this game was the day i realized god hated me

Review in progress, but so far:

I spent a couple hours just messing around so I only just defeated the first boss but I decided to share my sentiments anyway.

1. No, this isn't a Soulsborne game. I pre-ordered it after only watching 4 minutes of gameplay since the premise seemed interesting and I saw elements from Soulsborne but I don't think that necessarily means you should conflate the two. I've completed all the Soulsborne games omit Demon's Souls and I'm getting my ass handed to me when I try to play it like Dark Souls/Bloodborne.

2. This game is tough. I mean REALLY tough. As someone who had difficulty parrying in Dark Souls it's really testing my meddle since parrying/deflecting is one of your best options against enemies and the first boss. To an extent, I'd say that Sekiro is harder than Soulsborne in many respects.

3. Stealth is incredibly viable. The game really tries to force the shinobi modus vivendi in emphasizing reflexes and stealth alike in combat, and you'll often find that you need to single out opponents to take them down, whereas in Souls handling the ganks wasn't necessarily as strategic.

While it isn't a Dark Souls game, I'd be lying if I said I regret buying it. So far I prefer DaS1/3 and Bloodborne over it but I've barely even scratched the surface of the game and will finalize my opinion once I finish it hundreds of deaths later.
