After 50 hours of trying to like Dark Souls Remastered after playing the original, Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, I still can't like it.
PTDE is unique, it's, in my opinion, the only true original Dark Souls experience, and only it can truly communicate the "origin of Dark Souls", what makes Dark Souls what it is today.
- "Why?" - Because DSR graphics are not even close to the original ones, the atmosphere is not the same and even playing with mods that change them didn't make it close to what PTDE's graphics were. Install a patch like DSFix to PTDE and there you have a game that makes Remastered almost pointless to exist. PTDE can run at 60 fps in high resolution with custom HUD, the only downside to playing it over Remastered is not having online features... Which may not be of much value to many people anyway.

It's not bad, but there is no reason to play it when you can play DS3, Elden Ring, or even just Dark Souls: PTDE...

I don't quite know if I would reccomend this game, but I feel like the reviews are a bit too generous for it.
I've played the entire game and all its flaws made me lose the immersion, and at the end it was kinda... "yeah".
Would only reccomend it if it's with a good discount like 80% or more.
3d was used a lot more that it should've, with 2d characters whose design didn't fit well with the style (and also it has very bad optimization on 4K, at least)
Poor dialogs with cliche phrases that killed the scene...
The game could've used some more effort in its development.

I'll edit this if I change my mind, but I actually think this game is poorly made.
While map and NPCs are something very interesting, basic game mechanics, animations and audio design are made as if with laziness and seem like it was not given enough effort.
I don't think ADP is bad nor good, rather, it makes the game just different from the others, and I can understand the point of it.

But it seems like every animation was poorly made, from the basic walking & running ones to bosses and enemies' attacks. It feels weird and wouldn't be particularly bad if it wasn't a souls game, which requires a well-polished combat due to its intrinsic high difficulty. Also, I should add that the player character doesn't even move when hit...? (when it has enough poise to not get stunned) That made being hit something very confusing that many times made me check my HP bar to see if I was really hit or not...

Audio design is... Unfinished, it seems? A lot of actions do not have any audio and a lot of important sounds seem like they're just placeholders until something better was made, like the running sound that seems very generic and even attacks from bosses that do not have sound at all.

I do praise the creativity put into the game but it has a lot of failures on fundamental aspects that make it unenjoyable, at least for me.

CRAP performance (yes I downloaded shaders), poor graphics in gameplay and hella bugged.
There's times I look for a match and it just won't find, no matter how much I wait.

The base story + bonus map was completed in 15 hours by me. The first game was 10 hours long, but this one definitely had a more dense story and full of little details, and a overall improved gameplay.
Some levels are very difficult, and maybe unfair, but that only means that one must use a bit of brain do pass the level. Difficult, for sure, but not absurd.
In conclusion, this game has changed my life not because of gameplay and story, but its music. Soundtrack is so great that gameplay seems like a little bonus - a background to have while the music is playing.
Definitely worth full price. Requires brain to beat some stages tho.

F*CKING LOVE THIS GAME
My first souls and it was just... Magical. Now i've played a lot more souls games and DS1 still holds it for one of the best.
Loved every single hour spent.
Also, runs in any combustion driven 80's pc (at 30 fps).
