Yep, it was made in Ukraine, but it's a part of russian history - 1986 (year of the atomic catastrophe) - it was the USSR time, so...
This game is based on few famous sources:
1) The tragedy of the year 1986
2) A book of Strugatskie "Picnic on a side of the road" (Пикник на обочине)
Gameplay is based on real existing locations (Red wood, radioactive scrap yard, city Pripyat and of course atomic reactor number 4), radiation, military forces, that gard the 30 km zone of danger, sience labs and so on.
Another side shows zones of anomal activity, which produce artefacts of unhuman nature, and groops of people who risc their lifes trying to get this stuff.
Sounds good, but exist few "but" : criminals, radiation, mutants, zombies, psi-rays, which blows ur mind, fanatics, greedy soldiers, killing for any reason and of course invisible traps - anomal zones - deadly for every living being.
