When a video game tries too hard to be an action film.


I haven't made it that far in the game, but Back 4 Blood feels more like a film than a game, so far - as there seems to be an emphasis on making everything look cool & overusing cheesy one-liners - even in the character select screen.

Partly due to the almost constant action separated by a few empty, soulless cut-scenes & last second near misses, I cannot help but feel as if the team are actors replaying a scene every match.

There's explosives everywhere, blood splatter coating every surface, forgettable, samey specials.
Much unlike L4D, whose specials definitely have quite a lot of contrast.

Gunplay is definitely fluid & feels quite fine, but there's a lack of unique interactions & ways to outplay your enemy - no cutting tongues, timing shove to avoid & stumble enemies/specials, no throwing bile during an event.

Just shoot orange glowy zombie bits.

Will suck away at your time until eventually you realise you're not playing the game... but rather learning how to work around all the bugs and 30tick servers.

Examples: dodging hunters and jockeys by strafing because shoving barely works. Especially on the worst type of infected - commons who are jumping ot vaulting.
BHopping: learning to bhop ia pretty easy due to official servers being 30 tick, 64 or 100 are very difficult to bhop.

What's the point of having a game changing mechanic if it barely works? Looking at you, M2.

Overall recommend when it's on sale as it's great for friends. Worst community is the versus one as new players get treated like homosexuals in the middle east

It is pretty decent, considering it's a literal mobile port with the few changes being key mapping and a cursor replacement. Of course, it could use some work, to be fully optimized for PC, why not put a little more effort into making the game like the browser version? Including all of its features?

Also, I would love to see some more maps, weapons, upgrades even? I loved SAS 3 and would love to see some of the SAS 3 missions implemented into SAS 4.
