Never has a game made me feel this betrayed and disappointed.

Chapter 5 is great.

Chapter 6 drags on some parts, but it's also pretty good. At this point I thought this might be the best mystery novel ever written (boy, was I mistaken...)

Chapter 7 is a dragged-out borefest that "explains" things with confusing and convoluted metaphors.

Chapter 8 stops being Umineko half-way through and becomes bad fanfiction on fantasy land. There's no coherence to be found and it's extremely stretched-out and repetitive. The ending is a completely artificial attempt at a climax. The mystery is left unsolved. The values that previous chapters held are betrayed.

There's a manga adaptation that actually explains everything, but I found the solution to be utterly disappointing, heavily flawed and impossible to be solved in detail as a player. Nothing like chapters 1-5 promised. There's also the theory that the official solution is a facade to hide the actual truth, which would be cool but way too convoluted and demanding.

The price, quotes, and other reviews made me think it would be a good game hidden under a purposely awful presentation. I was wrong. It's the bad joke it looks like in the screenshots.

A fun way to practice your typing.

I didn't think I would stay until late at night playing competitive solitaire with friends every night, but here we are.

Also my mom is finally a pro gamer.

A great game to (very effectively!) engage with your audience on Twitch. I also use it to choose winners for giveaways; it makes it more exciting and somewhat skill-based (depending on the minigame).

Absolutely thrilling.
A complex mystery full of layers, players and and details that actually delivers an explanation that makes sensa and was properly planned from the beggining instead of BS being improvised on the go and leaving the most important parts "up to interpretation".

The anime (2000) is a rushed, souless adaptation that misses all that makes the story great.

About this chapter in particular: Once things start moving it's hard to stop reading. It really makes you feel like the protagonist. More appreciable by the new perspective the following chapters will bring.

Update after finishing it: The ending was a complete disappointment and there's basically nothing to do after day 30. I'll keep the recommendation because it was a pretty unique experience while the content lasted.

A fun and quick game to play with friends. Controls are simple but hard to master.
Lots of modes. Most of them are not that well thought out, but you can't really ask for more at that price.

Maybe the best story ever written.

It's a shame that to enjoy After Story (the best part) you need to play every route making certain choices, which takes hundreds of hours and effectively turns it into a convoluted kinetic VN.
Fortunately you can use a guide and skip through those routues or just download a cleared save file, like I did.
