Not really bad as such but I ran into a gamebreaking bug about halfway through. If you fight Benedicta (and possibly other bosses?) you might be killed by projectiles while locked into their death cutscene. If that occurs, the boss will remain defeated but you will not get their items, making you completely unable to proceed. Until this bug is fixed, I cannot recommend the game.

Short, free, and fun.

Unironically some of the best character and story writing I have ever seen.

Considerably mediocre.

-The quality of writing swings wildly between actually decent, somewhat dull, and utterly nonsensical.
-Despite already having few areas, set pieces are reused several times.
-Gameplay is alright but nothing special.

It also suffers the curse of being a single player game that requires an online connection to be played, or at least for starting the game each time, as well as having to sign into third party software.

I tried to like this game, I really did, but it's so player hostile it just isn't worth it to keep going. The grind is utterly excrutiating and there are a host of mechanics to make it even worse.

Allow me to list a few of them:

-Very low drop rates for materials that you need for synthesizing equipment
-The exp you gain from enemies reduces the lower their level is compared to yours, up to, I believe, only 1/10
-Every new character you gain starts at level 1, even later into the story
-Yukkuri, the metal slime equivalent of this game, serve as an excuse to give other enemies trash exp rewards, which require dozens of fights to level up once.
-Several encounter types of Yukkuri force an ambush, bypassing even ambush immunity, and allows them to run away before you get a chance to do anything
-No random encounters and enemies don't respawn until you leave the dungeon you're in, which, even with the ability to exit a dungeon at any time, still means a lot of running and also no simple way of automating the grind
-Characters not in your party gain no experience
-At least one dungeon has a two party system, which means you absolutely have to grind some more hours to get your abandoned companions up to snuff (cannot be cheesed entirely by exiting the dungeon and sending the same party down the other path as the bosses of the separate roads are fought back to back and revive if you fail)
-A secondary level up system that favors quantity over quality so your characters will still be trash if you just level them up quickly (at least comparatively) with Yukkuri

There are also other issues, but the grind is the real deal breaker.

Ahem, anyway, This is quite good game reminiscent of N64 era 3D-Platformers, albeit not entirely matching up to the bigger titles of the time. There is a lot of charm to it, but there was still the ever-niggling feeling that it could have been better throughout most of the game. A bit more polished visuals and gameplay would have really elevated it. Don't get me wrong though, it works perfectly fine mechanically, other than the framerate tanking slightly in one or two spots. Disregarding the lingering taste of somewhat wasted potential, it was quite fun to play, ultimately.

Also, foxes cute, do buy.

I made the unfortunate choice to start playing this somewhat late in the evening... then suddenly it was 6 am.

A great game. Also ticks off the Chinese by featuring a Hololive VA which is another plus.

When you thought you were finally done dying to the Flandre Extra stage only to find this game...
