After beating the crap out of the "final boss", you can then marry him.

A free Bullet Heaven that I had a lot of fun with on itch.io. I was very surprised and happy when my progress from that version carried over to the Steam version.

No microtransactions, plenty of references to the actual streamers themselves, and cute artwork.

One of the best deckbuilder roguelikes out there.
Beautiful artwork, neat combat, interesting events, and (most importantly) mod support.

Speaking of, recommended mods:
- ModTheSpire, BaseMod, StSLib (these are needed to run any of the other mods)
- Downfall (adds more characters, cards, relics, events, and a new game mode)
- Sneco-Arc (silly thing that replaces an enemy, some sounds, and a few of the artworks on cards)
- Minty Spire (QoL improvements)
- The Vacant (interesting character, but not as developed as I'd hope)
- Achievement Enabler (because you're not actually cheating)
- Colored Powertips (QoL improvements)
- A Better Third Choice (adds a third choice to certain events that had only a binary option)
and
- Quick Restart Buttons (QoL improvements)

Personally, I think you should at least try a few runs without mods before you start installing them.

A nice, short game you can knock out in a couple hours.

Swimming controls are a bit finicky, but the transformation and interact buttons can get remapped. (Just wish I could use a controller.) Still, after changing the controls and practicing a bit, I was able to glide through the sea. Still kind of difficult to gauge what I needed to do to remain afloat, but that was more of a skill issue than an issue of design.

All-in-all, it's got a neat concept and interesting controls. Can't wait to see what this developer makes next.

Still one of the best jRPGs of all time.

Only a couple nits to pick.
1) the camera tracking on some of the original cutscenes doesn't quite sync up the way it used to. It'll sometimes be one or two tiles off of where it should be, cutting off some of the important parts of the scene.
2) some of the sound design still sounds off from the original SNES sound chip. But this problem has been there since the PlayStation days.

Upsides
1) All of the extra bonus content from the DS version is still here.
2) The anime cutscenes from the PlayStation are still here.
3) The graphical problems, with the exception of a few cutscenes, have been fixed since release.

Just like most roguelikes, you can get screwed over by random chance - sometimes the resources you need just don't show up. You can also screw yourself over with greed - you can intentionally make battles harder for additional rewards, but then you could lose.

Still, the challenge of progressing your mastery is worth the effort. Even if the end goal seems a little lackluster, the journey itself was the reward.

Very imaginative world. Great art. Harder than college. And a train.

Early Access Review
A lot better than I first anticipated.

Helps that some of the designers are former Wizards of the Coast employees.

You ever wanted a game like Shovel Knight or Shantae but where you play as the villain? This is the game for you.

Pros:
- Hilarious dialogue.
- Crow (the main character) is very genre-savvy. I think he may have also read the Evil Overlord List.
- Variety of gameplay per level, as having different princesses alters the mechanics.
- Interesting hidden tidbits for completionists.
- Beautiful hand-drawn sprites.
- I can't get the music out of my head!
- Challenging boss fights.

Cons:
- There isn't always a clear indication of where you're supposed to go in a level. I've gotten lost a few times.
- Bomb jumping can be difficult. Especially the jump where you're trying to get the first crown in a level.
- What's the deal with the purple blocks? Why are they purple in every level? Who put them there? Why don't they have different colors/textures depending on what level they're found in?

9/10 is what I give Nefarious.

Of course, IGN will probably give it a 6/10 (too much water) because of the one underwater level.

THE MIND GAMES this title plays with you!

So this game encourages you to think outside the box. And then FURTHER outside. Nope, keep going. Further. Even further. And, as a curve ball, you suddenly have to think inside the box. Some of the puzzles seem to be harder than college! And the original timer gives you 90 minutes... I ran out of time. Thankfully, it lets you keep playing... but I'm not sure if I screwed something up by running out or if it's just another mind game this game is playing with me.

Frustratingly difficult despite the simple premise, only play this game if you want to give yourself a brain cramp.

9.9/10
