2 great games fr. Anyone wanting to get into sonic should definitely start with this. Sonic story is kinda mid but shadow pretty much picks up the slack if youre playing for the story. Both games gameplay-wise are super fun.

100%'d the game quick thoughts
I like platformers a lot so bias disclosed.

I see a lot of people having trouble w some of the mechanics like wall run or the jump height. I can tell there's at least some inspiration from sly cooper which had a double jump that made me go "where it at tho" as a kid, so I can understand what some mean when they say the character is a bit weighty. I don't particularly mind though because after a while playing I got used to controlling tackle.

I like how the whole move-set is being considered for each challenge and found that there were times that combining moves helped with shortcuts, like long jumping into a spin to get a little extra distance when falling from a higher place. A lot of jumps I needed to make were made easier by adding the spin to whatever I was doing honestly. I think because it was so helpful it might be nice to map spinning to a button to encourage it being used more. I think most people having trouble with the weight of the character would change their tune if they used it more. But 1 and 1/2 stick rotations can be tough to do when you're trying to flow through some of the platforming. I got used to it but I think its worth mentioning.

While I agree that the game is punishing for making mistakes, the shortcut hooks made it more bearable. I won't lie though I definitely spent a decent amount of time just retrying jumps until I made it. I liked doing it though because finally making it through felt rewarding.

Most of my complaints with finding stuff I missed was pretty much solved with the compass update. I didn't look anything up until I finished so I could judge how I felt clearly and I think it would be helpful to have a sign tell you how to use the compass as I had to adjust game audio to find the last fish by listening to its footsteps (revisiting almost every challenge until I found it). I don't know if I can blame the game for this though but a little hint wouldn't hurt. I got the gist with the coin detector but once it was just a fish left I was struggling. In hindsight, after seeing the guide on the community tab which explains the compass I feel at fault for missing it. Its shaped like a fish after all but yknow.

Overall, I'm going to buy it when it comes out. It could literally not change at all and I would buy it. There are things that would make the game more pleasant though which I hope I stated well. The game is fire.
