Once again, CAPCOM has a subpar release for an excellent game. Monster Hunter is a gem of a series but the developers can't seem to get version 1.0 right to save their lives. Still, with my above-average rig I've had very few issues. And once again the combat depth and fine-tuned gameplay loop of Monster Hunter is pure joy. Fans of the series will whine and nitpick, but it's undeniable that this is a worthy sequel. It gets a recommendation from me, although I understand why the reviews are mixed. Better with a controller. Incredible value even at high price.

This game isn't going to change your life, but its cool efficiency and straightforward complexity is well worth a look. If you're looking for a quality game that can run on a mediocre laptop, look no further. This is the full essence of roguelikes in a minimalist, streamlined form. Excellent.

There are other survivalist city-building games, but none quite like Frostpunk. Where Frostpunk 1 had an elegant simplicity, 2 expands both the city-building complexity and survivalist aspects. I think this is what video game sequels should be: a new, better-funded take on the same premise. New players may be overwhelmed, but as a fan of the first game I am very satisfied.

This is a truly excellent entry-level deck builder. The essential makeup of the game is designed to be child-friendly, but the writing is good enough to entertain anyone. I'd compare this to Portal 2, but with a studied game type rather than experimental.

I went back and forth a lot on this one. Bottom line: it's over-simplified. Neither the combat nor the resource management requires much thought. Maybe it throws you curve balls later? But after ten hours I'm more feeling nostalgic for The Binding of Issac and other rogue-lites than having fun. I don't know. Maybe if it wasn't so highly rated I'd be more generous. Well-made but boring.

The grind is intense. I highly recommend altering the server settings to make harvesting less daunting. Like Valheim with more focus on combat than building. And the combat works: MOBA-esque and snappy with clear skill horizons. Personally, I don't see a lot of replayability here, but 50+ well-designed bosses and a neat castle-building system are more than enough for me.

There are so many flaws with this game, but it's still an unmissable gaming experience. There's just so much love put into every aspect of this game. It's really unbelievable how much time and attention to detail Larian put into BG3; you really can't help but have a good time. There's nothing in this game that's my thing: not the roleplaying, not the combat, not the dense lore. But seriously, I don't think anyone familiar with video games can help but enjoy this. Now that most of the bugs are fixed there's really no excuse.

This is one of those games that's kind of borderline. There's nothing wrong with it, but there's nothing particularly good either. This game is really for people who really, really like tower defense games; I'm not one of those people. I don't regret buying it on sale, but this is a long, long ways away from a must-play. Maybe I'm being harsh, but I just think there's enough competition in the roguelike market to give this a miss.

I've played too many of these kinds of games, and I think this might be the only one to out-Vampire Survivors the original Vampire Survivors.

Never have I encountered a game so thoroughly dedicated to the simple pleasure of leveling up.
