Previously played this game on heavily modded version with friend and after quite some time playing got me to decide getting it for myself on steam. At that moment I realised my mistake playing this game vanilla.

The early game was fun up to Eikhtyr bossfight, and after which the pacing of the game massively halted on the copper grind, which not only takes a long time to mine a node, it also takes a long of time to transport and process. Having to haul ores bit by bit is not really fun and a good way to spend your playing/relaxing time.

Inventory system is not that much better either in my opinion for two main reasons: weight limit and dedicated slots. Having previously played on a modded client, it quite surprised me that armors don't have a dedicated slot, instead they take your inventory slot as normal, and reduces the variety of items in the inventory at once. Having inventory limit although encourages the use of other transporting method, but with it being static limit and the amount of ores you have to haul and how tedious the entire transporting process is, I'm not a fan of, it doesn't scale very well to the late game.

Having first couple of worlds I played got a very far elder spawn, I'm not really a fan of spending 20-30 minutes of just travelling and sailing, and probably die later on and losing everything you have. Portal could be nice as a shortcut, but evidently falls from being a permanent travel solution whenever you start needing to haul more ores, it feels just like a band aid solution for travelling very far distances (granted they're not being destroyed by some enemies around there).

Dying in this game induces a lot more stress than what's necessary, losing your items is a very common trope for this kind of genre, but when losing everything, including equipments and gained levels it really feels too harsh just for sake of it. This effectively makes secondary/backup equimpents important and thus increases the amount of grind required.

Progression, outside the scope of equipments, really lags down compared to what you encounter later on. Having character getting better solely on food system, although interesting at the long run seems just an unnecessary chore to source a good food just to be able to survive the later encounter. This also ties to character's stamina bar where it just takes forever to get back up and drains super fast especially when encountering a slight bumpy hills.

Having said that, I do like some stuffs on valheim, mainly its relaxing scenery at the early games with dynamic weather adds to the feel for enjoying resting time after a day worth of work (exclude the grinding part from here). The building system is also fun to mess around, creating a beautiful houses and places with its smoke system something to bear in mind, adding flavour on top of the basic build mechanics. The combat, outside of stamina draining super fast, is very fun to mess around, with a satisfying parrying mechanic and feedback as well to spice it up even more.

In conclusion, for me Valheim is very tedious to play and that really is a massive killjoy on my part. It has a good basis for a good game, but issues I mentioned earlier prevented it to be one, if you want to play Valheim for a relaxing time I heavily suggest using some QoL mods (and just mod it to oblivion because why not) and probably get some friend to accompany you on your journey too.

I can not award Valheim my DANGEROUS GAMES, DO NOT PLAY category, as at the end Valheim doesn't make me don't want to play it because it'll make me lose the sense of time, but because I kept being reminded on how tedious it is.

Vanilla was fun, fishing (especially for crimsonfisk and legend) are challenging yet rewarding.
Vanilla fishing in multiplayer is... something, since often time doesn't pause except for some cases hence might get to dark and only got 2 or 3 for a day.

Late game contents are very much appreciated, and so is the endless time, however no consequences/effect of time passing for events and NPC (and your children) might feels weird after some years.

Grind to true perfection is something else, without any true automation, having to handle couple of sheds worth of kegs while attempting to do anything else is a massive chore, especially if it involves one-time-harvest plants (i.e. starfruit). Without automation, even such minute expansion could be a chore, such as expanding ancient fruits; from 1 to 100 is very much doable, but for more having to wait everytime near the seed makers and fill it for in game hours felt tiresome. Doing these chores can take up time you can enjoy for doing anything else in the game.

Having no exp bar is also something else, you never know when you're gonna hit the next level and how soon it'll be, and thus rising from level 9 to 10 felt forever and felt very much redundant as you can't see the effect of your progress until the deed has been done.

Overall some of the annoyance, flavour, and UI can be helped with mods alongside with many more to spice up or even change up the game.

Musics and ambient sounds in this game is very much fitting and convey the feel of the location to the player, favorite of mine being winter osts, night market, and ambient of rainy days.

Multiplayer brings a lot of fun and wacky stuffs and something I could never have with previous title in this kind of genre. No longer just gathering together with friends to talk about what and how your save is doing, but being able to actively participate in the shenanigans.

Been playing this since 2009, still fun to this day.

Certainly didn't regret to get these on steam as supposed to have game file somewhere in whichever hard disk (or CDs) that I had.
Reccomended to get them (TW n KW) if on discount.

With Elden Ring potentially being another Game of the Year from Fromsoft, I had no choice but to try it. After playing Elden Ring for some time, I realised this game has one massive flaw.

With massive content and world to be explored, I can’t keep getting this out of my head, this game is unplayable. No, no, not because of the performance issues, yes it’s still early and it a bit ♥♥♥♥ on that part, but I’m having fun for now. The invisible enemies at first I thought it’s a issue with the rendering, in which enemies slightly becomes visible when attacking or something like that, then I realised it’s not the game’s fault but it’s just my character being an aristocratic prophet that’s blind, especially towards the plebians.

The said flaw is the TIME itself. Being somewhat busy along with thesis and publication to write, it’s hard for me to find relaxing time to fully enjoy and explore this world. Being limited in time made me consider my life choices, and even considered taking performance enhancing time medicines, but it’s very expensive so I decided not to. One reliable source of a certain coloured panda says that time flies when you’re having fun, so I decided to do something that’s not fun, my thesis, then I realised it’ll just make time move faster towards the deadline. Trying to deflate Rune as a currency to accelerate my progress doesn’t work either because I don’t have a degree in economic. As an engineer in third world country, I had no choice but to methodically plan my steps ahead and clear the area sector by sector, but that’ll take too much time and I’m not a computer solving a numerical problem, so I just decided to take a rest and enjoy the game bit by bit whenever I want and going whereever my interest drag me into.

Och det är min erfarenhet.

Post 1.04:
- Been enjoying the game even more, haven't tested the 1.04 multiplayer.
- After some stress tests the enemies still load fast enough.
- So far no invisible enemies spotted yet.
- FPS ramped up and stable around 35-40ish, which before was around 15-25, completely surprised me honestly and feels unnatural to be running smoothly for me.

On the serious note:
- Site of Grace very close to boss/challenge area and Stakes of Marika very welcomed no longer having Iron Passage or Frigid Outskirts PTSD.

Previous complaints:
- The invisible enemies are annoying, both when speeding with Torrent or the game’s rendering just being a massive ♥♥♥♥. Had to quit and re-enter to temporarily fix that. Updated my graphic driver and the invisible enemies still are annoying, especially when storming a castle and stuffs like that.
- Minor FPS drop on heavy load (such as in Stormhill) just slightly bothering me especially if the rendering’s cucked after that, other than that I don’t really mind it.
- It’s fun and lots of stuffs to do, just slightly annoying to collect EVERYTHING (which I barely can resist to not do) and 100% this. Due to first problem I have trust issues when traveling because at a time I can’t see any entities, especially when taking damage out of “nowhere” from invisible enemies.
- Since both of my PS3 controllers absolutely shagged I had no option but to use KBM, compared to PTDE it’s a lot better, probably similar to DS3, but I rarely use KBM for that so I forgot. Never used KBM for DS2/SotFS. Due to more varied control it’s a lot more complicated compared to Sekiro’s godsent KBM control. After slight rebinding, KBM control is very enjoyable.
- Bug during Rennala's fight where the minions won't have golden aura meanwhile the one that's meant to have golden aura will emit purple light attempting to cast the books, which when this bug happened non existent, and hitting/killing them won't progress through the fight. Alt+F4 and re-entered fog gate got the bug fixed.

EDIT: Additional info and typo fix.
EDIT 2: Updated for 1.04.

============= UPDATED REVIEW =============

After blowing some air into my GPU, my performance with lowest possible setting in rocket league increased by tenfold. Even during connection drop (high ping, ping variety, disconnected, and packet loss) my performance still stable. Overall a major improvement for blowing some dust, especially due to this game is the one that has massive performance issue.

Still kinda sad thou that the "DLC Cars" are no longer able to be purchased from steam store. They were nice, not expensive, and direct buy (noneed for coins/credits). I just really don't like getting new stuffs from in game store, as they use coins and consequently more expensive than what you pay for a car in the "Showroom". Also stuffs from in game store are only availables in limited time.

The crates... I miss them. It was nice trading new crate for 1-2 keys, and I loved it. Not to mention the crate unlocker, it basically gives you "free" key for playing the game (although yes you can't trade it, but not a massive issue for me), it was still a niche; especially now coins are in line just for unlocking stuffs that you get.

The season pass system, can't really say. Never tried it, nor I want to spend some money into coins.

Overall the gameplay is still fun*, especially with friends. At least, that's what I always loved from this game. For in game store and blueprints (all revolving around coins), not my favorite, it's really up to who's playing it, although I'd love to have the cars DLC back to the old system.

Edit 2: Major performance issue fixed
*without any major issue in performance

============= OLD REVIEW =============

Used to be playable, even with highest setting.

Now with lowest setting and some tweaking still unplayable; blue screened twice, almost blue screen lot's of time after exiting.
Somehow fps dropping drastically (down to 1-3 fps, which gave the blue screen after exit) everytime it lags/bad connection just a bit and becomes utterly unplayable.

Also, the game runs smoothly (no fps drop whatsoever) while disconnected/offline mode

Edit: Added more details

Do not play this game, at least if you do, do not let linger any further than necessary.
It's either only 20 mins session or 5 hours session, and no inbetween.

I think I'm eligible for my chem. eng. degree now.
I HAVE my Chem. Eng. degree now.

Space Age is a very much welcome addition to Factorio, and I did not regret getting it... well maybe a bit in term of time lost having fun playing it...
