The one server they have for NA is bad. Gameplay feels unimpactful and lacking any fluidity, if that's due to the servers or just game design I'm not sure but after 14 hours i'm done trying. Game does have a ton of systems and things to do, not sure how deep though systems actually get but after hitting max and running group content, everything just feels low quality imo. Don't have much experience with eastern mmo's, most of my hours are in Rift/Wow/GW1 so there's certainly a huge design difference, but I've played quite a bit of BDO before it started to just get expensive and the combat was leagues apart in terms of quality and responsiveness.

So outside of bad servers/potentially sluggish gameplay, the game does have a ton of PvX for the skillers/lore people out there, just not at all my interest when it comes to MMO's. Not sure how many people can really praise the game(port at least) because everything from the VA to the tooltip text is such bad english it's a ton of guesswork as to how certain things function, again a lot of the tooltips simply aren't explained in a coherent manner of their effects/how they function. Once you hit max you have to do a tutorial before you're able to group with other players and it's explained how the trinity system works(Tank/dps/heals), that entire segment was some of most atrociously translated text i've ever seen, and i've read plenty of machine-translated text before which is just comical that this is getting shipped at its price point. There are so many better options in terms of MMO's right now, again perhaps it's just my lack of Eastern MMO's, but the overall QA of this game has just been abysmal and I don't get how this is positively rated but just assuming it's people trying to cope with buying this game and ignoring the glaring flaws.

Tried so hard to look past the issues, but they're glaring and unacceptable for a full release. Games livelyhood is its multiplayer, and even though it's literally unfathomable to me how their Closed tests performed better, the servers since full release have been absolutely atrocious between the lag and just straight bugging out. Can't place nukes if i'm host.. why? How? Wasn't an issue in testing... so many little things just clutter the bigger picture to the point where it's entirely gone.

Spent 40-60 hours across multiple tests, and 150h+ on the first TRS, loved all of it and the testing just led me to believe we were going to be getting a more fleshed out version of it. Somehow, all of the bloatware mechanics they added with story just brought the entire rest of the game down however. I truly don't understand the focus on the single-player content when the games main draw is its strategic team-play. The "strategy layer" is basically just a badly done x-com overworld map, a lot of the systems are badly explained and it's a trial-and-error experience, was frustrating but whatever, skirmish is what I wanted so sub-par single is perfectly fine if not expected. Boy does that singeplayer look like a nice healthy apple in the middle of a famine now, I truly don't understand how the mark was so completely missed. Had my concerns after learning Terminator(fav from trs1)/Hellfire were getting delayed past launch but having played multiple tests, I knew(hah) the game would still be amazing and the wait would be worth it. That turned around fairly quickly. Just so sad to see the state of this launch especially after the 7 month delay from their first delay.

Hoping future patches fix up server stability and improve on the numerous bugs. I get the feeling even if the game does get completely fixed it'll be dead at that point however. Really needed a strong launch to bring in a variety of new players, as is it's just going to follow the route of the first game and fade into obscurity which is a shame because when the game actually works it's wonderful, it's just few and far inbetween currently.

Fun and challenging. There is a bit of a grind on the first 5-6 runs to unlock some pretty mandatory perks so that you actually can start getting into the later waves, but it's realistically maybe 4-5 hours of grinding and it's not mind numbing. You're unlocking stuff as you play and learning mechanics, after you get your action point perks and unlock some weapon variety, the rest of the "grind(aka progression)" feels like you're not playing handicapped with barely any actions per turn. and opens up nicely.

Melee is incredibly useless past the first few nights, and hopefully balance patches will come in because certain weapons are just on another level compared to others(Longbow and druid staff are the biggest offenders). Be nice to have a bit more control over your starting line-up and builds in general, but as is there is a nice amount of variety and adjustments you have to do along the way. That said, it feels horrible getting skills that are completely useless even after rerolls, would rather be able to spend gold/materials to keep rolling. Speaking of rolling, the shop desperately needs a reroll function, even if it's an upgrade you have to buy sometimes the shop is just completely void of anything useful. Defenses and most of the towns buildings are a bit underwhelming so far imo(with some again being mandatory for wins, aka seer), the amount of space you actually get for your town also feels incredibly claustrophobic, would be nice to see some bigger maps/areas in general in the future. Having enemies spawn and instantly be attacking walls without having a certain building just feels like bad game design.

Overall really enjoyable and a good difficulty curve that somewhat falls off after you develop a winning strategy, but the amount of content and playtime you get is already excellent, curious to see if a roadmap is planned or what all EA is missing from full release, but even if this was full release i'd still recommend it. It being in EA with more potential is just room to get better. Only real gripe/problem with the game i've encountered is Past Night 8/9 I start to get memory leaks and the fps drops down to the 20s(from a smooth 120 early on), Restarting the game does fix the issue, but it returns rather quickly the following night. One of the 1h Crossbow skills has aoe combined with huge screenshake, literally takes 30-40 seconds of 7 fps for the skill to finish and it's jarring as ♥♥♥♥ with motion sickness. Hopefully the memory issues gets fixed super quick, otherwise full steam ahead on this recommendation.

It was fun, was expecting more horror but there were certainly a few tense moments. Goes completely over-the-top action at the end, was hoping for an actual suspenseful climax but it was just silly. Story in general was all over the place, liked 7 but seeing Ethan come back and possibly have more future roles is dreadful, his character in this was atrociously over done on being an edge-lord.

Haven't touched mercenaries yet, but the played through campaign on hardmode and aside from the "Survive the Attack" fiasco everything else was fairly smooth sailing and wasn't frustrating in any parts on artificial difficulty. Story wise So tired of the "mold" being a source of corruption. What is even up with all of the weird ♥♥♥♥ characters are doing at this point, it's getting to nanobots level of MGS without the actual interesting story and characters behind it. Would prefer them just retconning all of their gaps and making something cohesive or simply going with a fairly straightforward but good plot opposed to trying to mind ♥♥♥♥ everyone. Looks like RE9 is going to be focusing on Rose and god that seems atrocious, maybe if they do it Silent-Hill style and actually make it a horror game it'd work, but this formula in its current state is getting stale.

Village and castle are amazing zones and it was super saddening to see how little of the game actually takes place inside the castle, especially with as big and badass it is as the huge backdrop the entire game. Would have loved to have the finale in the castle zone instead of the route it actually went. Few times in the game where I went what I thought was the optional way only to be locked out of exploring what I skipped after a cutscene makes returning to the area impossible which was infuriating, replayability is great but replaying because you were forced to skip content is bad design. Make the story progression doors have a certain visual indicator or something next time please.

Overall was enjoyable, probably like 16-20 hours total playtime for most people to beat the game and mess around with mercs for a bit, wait a few years and then do it again.

You're better off playing Apex or The Cycle. Game is incredibly unbalanced and buggy(did many ndas and not much as improved over 6+ months), the enemy AI is so braindead they're just loot pinatas and add nothing to the game. Sound design is easily the worst i've experienced in recent history. Mini-map functionality with the way it displays players locations is pretty brain dead and I can't imagine why they thought it'd of been a good idea to make it so accurate. Gunplay feels so unimpactful and my god the reloading animation jank not working half the time(as well as being locked into consumable animations) are atrocious. Love the concept of a PvPvE BR but none of them have got both sides of the equation even close to being right so far, and Scavengers hasn't shown any improvement on that front.

Doesn't seem like there's currently a way to buy currency with real money, but their shop is set up looking like that's exactly their future plan, and considering their account progression is crafting, you can just skip a very lengthy amount of time if you shelve out some $$$.

Game itself is just decent, story is pretty bland but game mechanics are mostly well done and engaging, can't really comment on how the endgame is due to the constant sabotage and resets. Difficulty is great, some parts are super unbalanced if you're not a certain class(as solo, waiting for endgame for groups so can't attest to the difficulty of the campaign).

Server issues and prominent bugs are making the game unplayable currently however, the cover system is still incredibly janky where you're getting stuck and become unresponsive, perhaps endgame with a proper full team you can ignore the cover entirely but going through the campaign with Tier10 as a techno i'm in cover 70% of the time otherwise you simply get 2shot instantly by snipers.

Wait for fixes if you're looking to buy, server stability is desperately needed. Price is(imo) to high for the quality you're getting, can't speak for the quantity of it, but I hope they become balanced towards the end game because it's certainly really rough on the way there.

E: With server stability fixed and finishing the game and getting into endgame, still wouldn't recommend this in the slightest. Feels exactly like a live service game - buggy as ♥♥♥♥ and crammed full of artificial difficulty instead of actual challenge. Playing technomancer, there is no build diversity, it's spec into blighted rounds or gtfo. Not sure how it is for the other classes, but the lack of diversity on top of the arduous grind full of audio bugs, crashes, sub-par story, and some of the worth animations i've seen in the last decade, the game would perhaps be worthwhile at $30, $60 for this level of "polish" is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ inexcusable. People are so desperate for something new they're overlooking the many, many flaws this game has and are in complete denial of its actual worth. Came in with fairly low expectations and am blown away with exactly how low that bar has sunk. 4/10 would be generous.

"No." But really, yes. Certainly easier then dlc 1, and annoyed to see the comeback/new possessed and shrieker enemies, but compared to some of the fights on dlc 1 it's really a joke. Hammer is dope though it as other people have said makes the game way more forgiving, it'd be great to have added that and increased difficulty for more chaos opposed to just making it easier overall. Played through on Nightmare, maybe around 30 deaths compared to well over 60 on the first DLC, overall really liked it. Curious to see how much more the universe is going to expand, loving the direction of the story though.

If you're looking for price to gametime value, this certainly isn't it but even the base game is more quality then length, so just don't buy and expect even 5 hours of content. Do get a doomguys assemble montage which is dope af though.

As someone that backed them early on and while I was disappointed they took the Epic deal, I figured the extra funding would go into the game, not sure where that fat deal went but it doesn't seem like it went into development. The systems they promised maybe got 1/5 of the way implemented, and it's still so so so very buggy. The lack of varied mutations on top of the janky free-aim system is just beyond disappointing, and while the ideas are cool, they just did not get ironed out. If anything they got balled up and tossed into a corver, not even hung up. Wouldn't ever recommend or mention this as an Xcom successor and i'm so let down that after around 30 hours on EGS the game feels the same if not worse then it initially did, but i'm done giving the game the benefit of the doubt.

"Shape the battlefield to your advantage with a new combat phase that injects your squad right into action. Strategically assign your agents to different entry points and coordinate their assault with a range of Breach-specific skills."

Yeah, it interjects your squad into the worst positions possible and removes so much of the tactical layer previous Xcom games have had. I understand the concept behind breach, but not being able to actually choose where agents go is some of the worst design i've seen. They will literally go into open flank spots - just don't get it. It is a standalone game and all that jazz, but I don't understand why they moved away from what made Xcom 2 what it was - player input, pruning the number of ways you can handle a situation is just a complete leap backwards and I certainly hope Breach mode(in its current state at least) is not a test for the next main installment.

Aside from the horrendous Breach mechanics, playing on the hardest difficulty and going through with Ironman, you pretty much are RNGs complete slave unless you're running certain agent comps, and removing that player input gives RNG even more ways to screw you over. I'm sure the game would be a cake-walk with save-scumming it since it seems tilesets(at least main missions) are laid out with the mobs in the same place every time, but man does that ruin the game.

First impressions are that it's okay - when it works. It's also incredibly short. 12 hours to finish the main story, and that's having to restart Acts 2 and 3 twice(2ish hours). Story itself was supbar, characters are deliberately stupid but the cutscenes and most of the VA was actually really good, if i'm not mistaken it's not the full story yet, they plan on adding more chapters but after playing what's there i'd be fairly uninterested.

Perhaps offline is a different game - I certainly don't remember having such horrid servers and hitboxes during the beta, nothing says bad-ass fights by dying to servers and laggy/delayed animations, it's a great thing they didn't add HC else this would've been a much different review, but the game has changed so much since the beta's I could be wrong. For what was initially planned for the game, it's basically still just a beta and a very rough one at that. For whats IN the game currently, it has great graphics and animations, satisfying combat, but loot feels fairly stale and the content side of things is lacking for the price-tag.

Wouldn't really recommend the game to anyone in its current state, if you want to play online you're going to be in for a rough time, though I don't see many people clogging the servers in the near future so maybe it'll be great by that time - but in the interim it's very clunky and unresponsive at times.

Maybe will update on the end-game, but it looked pretty much like the beta's end-game with slightly more content, which was incredibly boring and unintuitive.
