Expected a little bit more freedom with the game considering it's advertised as chose your path and choices, but it's actually pretty linear in terms of the main story, it has a few endings but outside of join x or y faction once you're locked in it's pretty on rails, which is a shame because I went with Nemeton as my faction and to say the least I really wish the player actually had more input in regards to certain things unfolding.

Buuuut, this is an indie title and the amount of work that'd of needed to go into a full choices matter flowchart would've been insane and the game is crazy good for what it offers, even if it was a bit of a let down in certain aspects.

Combat was mostly fun outside of a few fights(which you do have the freedom to revist if desired so ymmv), exploration outside of a certain zone which had horrendous viewing angles was great, you're often rewarded in not insignificant ways. Some sidequests were pretty hum-drum fetch/escort quests, but some were also super cool and gave the player choice in how/who to complete them with. Enemy variety was pretty good, some archetypes weren't fun to fight and there is a lot of reskinning but considering stuff doesn't respawn it didn't really become apparent until you're almost finished with the game.

For its asking price and the amount of content/polish it offers it's an insanely good deal. It was about a 30~ hour playthrough for me and i'm pretty in the middle in terms of throughness with exploration and forgetting stuff. They left themselves open to continue with their world, but even if they don't i'm optimistic about whatever the devs next project is just due to the thought and care put into this.

As much as I love the concept and want this to succeed, this isn't ready for EA yet. It's extremely buggy(i've had 2 back to back missions fail because one of the final interactables locks you in place where you can't get back into gameplay, tons of collision issues/terrain surfing and invincible zombies etc etc). The netcode is fairly atrocious with zombies hitting you from a few feet away or stutter stepping a lunge attack. Performance has largely not been an issue for me at least hardware wise, i'm normally 120+ fps with some drops to 90~ but it doesn't stutter or frame skip, i'm also running a fairly beefy machine so ymmv.

Outside of the technical issues, some of the biggest concerns gameplay wise is how the permadeath/extraction/survivor building stuff works. Permadeath is fine on its own - everyone spawns with a syringe they can use to self revive once, it's fairly generous and you can find more in the safe room objectives and elsewhere on the map. The issue is it's do the complete map objective and extract, or lose your character. That means you're 100% reliant on other people not quitting(which with as crazy as some of the characters are, can't blame people for rerolling a character), dying, or the game bugging out and having an uninteractable poi. There is a lot that can screw you over that's entirely not on your end, there should be optional/early extracts. The "extraction" element itself is pretty weak - you collect some items that give you generic points that are automatically calculated at the end of a successful run, you don't keep gear or anything else, you literally just get account points that are for horizontal progression. Big letdown for me, as I figured you'd be taking the stuff you extracted with into the next life, though they do have some locked UI elements where they may be expanding on stuff later on, again, not ready for even EA.

Survivor building is just.. not good. There is a VAST power(and more importantly qol) difference between the different archetypes you can get. Getting a martial artist makes your melee actually impactful, where as the trauma expert(might be wrong on name, can't recall) lets you survive longer in the dbno state which is.. comically bad. I got a char that had extra pierce on rifles that had no discernible effect, so i'm assuming some are just straight bugged as well. I really like the concept of unlocking extra perks for doing well/extracting, but it's extremely underbaked as is.

I really, really am into the concept and wanted this to have a solid release but man even with rose tinted goggles anyone that could recommend this as is would be delusional to another degree. Another few months at minimum of polish would could have done wonders for this, I have no idea why this was pushed out in this state. What a complete shame, I hope it's stuck with but unless you're completely aware of just how broken the game is I couldn't rightfully suggest this to anyone.

After ages of hearing how good the persona games are, decided to give this a shot. Did not land for me at all, played on hard and the combat system(and lack of qol/quick loads etc) was giga annoying and unrewarding. Towards the last act of the game you unlock something that completely invalidates and in some cases just punishes whatever build craft you were going for. Fwiw after unlocking nearly everything there would have been stuff i'd of liked to try - but the game was literally almost over by that point. I'm guessing people are expected to ng+ it, but I personally just cbb on going through the monotonous heavy handed story again.

Main plot was giga stupid with things being literally stated earlier coming as a revelation 10 hours later, tons of false choices where it's a pick 3 options but really there's only 1. Outside of one early game over choice you're just funneled into a kinetic story which is just.. boring. Don't pretend like there's options when it's straight linear.

Companions were a mixed bag, Hulkenburg and Heismay were head and shoulders above everyone else from a backstory perspective. Most of the other ones were just super shoehorned in and one in particular was doing it because she simply wanted new experiences, which I would actually like if it they still didn't write her like she could do no wrong. You unlock someone way to late into the game to really integrate with them in any meaningful way, but honestly most of the followers/bonding was subpar anyways so was just happy it was one less thing to grind out.

Music was good but there really wasn't much and the lack of variety that plagues the rest of the game also made the same 5-6 tracks get old fairly quickly. Art was a mixed bag, character/creature designs were all great, but the games backgrounds/level design especially the "dungeons" were atrocious. The cutscenes were a nice addition, but then they largely disappeared after the first town and didn't really show up again until the final areas.

The "fantasy" aspect the game so often shoves in your face is just so heavy handed it's annoying. Anxiety literally powering everything is also just a really stupid concept - some things or perhaps corrupting things sure, but meh. They could have told a much better coherent story by not being so in your face with it, it was just annoying before to long.

I never played the Persona games because the high-school/typical teen anime thing isn't really something i'm interested in, and even when this touched upon some darker topics, it was really still just very basic teen anime without any depth, just hitting the easy dopamine triggers for the people receptive to the topics. A lot of the discourse leading up to this release had people saying it was a much grittier/darker story, but it certainly didn't feel that way. Happy so many people are enjoying this, but after the 40 hour mark everything got really stale for me with no single point of the game outside of wanting to see how it wrapped up kept me engaged. Getting an answer to who the disembodied feminine voice was really was the final nail in the coffin for me, just so freaking basic.

Sadly Capcom is continuing the streak of releasing unoptimized games. Should have been more careful after DD2's disastrous state, but unlike that game(which only just recently received an actual performance patch, and even then it seems inconclusive in terms of its gains) I'm not going to give them the benefit of the doubt or time to fix. Ship a broken product and i'll just refund. What an absolute shame.

Fwiw; The game was pretty much a prettier(in some ways, some textures just didn't seem like they were made for the same game and stood out) version of the original. Some controversy in some of the removed/changes features with certain psychos or the erotic photos not being a thing, but didn't bother me at all personally and most people are likely just overstating their importance because of political climates. It was stupid easy for the 2.5h I played, that outside of the performance issues would've been my only gripe or complaint.

Basically just warframe at home with slightly more looter elements, could stand on its own if it wasn't so janky and riddled with mtx. Warframe definitely isn't a golden child when it comes to how inane their crafting/time gate system is, but it's not hard to get the premium currency without paying anything at all, where as this will just use every scummy trick in the book to milk you if you let it.

Could've been something worthwhile if the mtx/progression system was better balanced and there was another 6 months of bug fixing and optimization. At the low price of free it's enjoyable until you hit the inevitable wall where it becomes pay to have any meaningful progression. They literally could have just made coomer skins and the game would've had an audience, but greed knows no bounds for Nexon. Play until you hit the wall, then go spend money on literally anything else.

Wouldn't recommend this for solo players, but can certainly see how fun it'd be with a few friends to go through once. Another title I wish there was something more then a yes/no recommend system since this really is divisive on some of its content. Even as frustrating as some of the fights were the game is still great and i'd like to see what they move on to next.

Played on a self hosted server on brutal and it was a slog in almost every aspect. Boss difficulty is all over the place, with some being absolute pushovers and others in the same bracket as the pushovers taking 10+ attempts to down, Adam and Dracula both were like 2 and 3 hour fights respectively. The way aoes/danger zones are displayed is atrocious and often misleading, where you can either be in the circle and not take damage, or vice versa, just not a fun learning experience when the rules constantly change. Again though, with a group the fights are undoubtedly much easier since you can have more build variety.

If you do plan on playing through this solo, at least on brutal, i'd recommend maxing all the resource generation/no limits to fast travel/craft time and tweaking the day/night cycle so you're not forced to wait times that are made for an online pvp focused game, it's way to long and arduous on default settings for a singleplayer playthrough.

The progression and even the combat in the game felt really lacking(giving players another ability slot would have greatly increased variety imo, but i'm sure balance things on the pvp side), gear upgrades rarely felt impactful in a way where it was exciting to get upgrades, the exception for this would be trying new weapons and eventually getting the legendary variants with unique bonuses. The amount of RNG on jewels/and the randomly rolled weapons is absurd and some way to target craft/refine them should've been added. The blood system and capturing people is great, but what's not great is a 35% chance to brick a prisoner at 1-2% blood quality increases. Despite getting 7+ 95%+ scholar bloods I never got further then 98%, it is maddening that there aren't other ways to increase quality. Just so much of the game is built around the multiplayer pvp aspect that playing it for anything else you can see what was sacrificed to add in bloated playtime and inconveniences meant to create attrition. The castle building stuff is super dope for people that want to get creative, not something I personally had an interest in though.

Has a lot of potential, but with the current optimization(I get 100+fps but it jumps around and chugs at certain points, as always the pnp scope view should have a toggle because it's always abysmally implemented), and LZ/spawn camping and server issues(as in desync/rubberbanding) it's a pretty solid wait for improvements. Add toggle aim asap, I have no idea how a mil sim of all genres can launch without that option.

Super interested to see where they go with the "mysteries" segment or if it'll just be some lore thing with no gameplay impact.

P.S - If like me your cpu is on the edge of melting, just stare at your feet in the heli segments. I went from literally thermal throttling(94c+, even went 100c on a core), to a normal 70-80c. The heli segment is initially cool but the performance impact it has on top of the LZ's just promoting camping, I really hope they add in a different way to at the least deploy, even if they keep the heli as the extract option.

Purchased on release and while I liked it, there was severe imbalance and the unavoidable one-shots was a real hamper and I set it down. 6 months later and this is an easy recommend with all of the changes they've made and content that's been added. Normally these games are glacial in their development times and come along at a snails pace(Stoneshard cough cough), so it's refreshing to see something actually have substantial improvements in such a short time spam. There is still some shenanigans that occur like getting cc locked and essentially being one shot, but those occurances are much rarer then they used to be, would love to see some form of counter to those systems in the future though, along with more progression systems in the form of ship upgrades and perhaps more customizable classes/mercs.

This is a "hardcore" game and it's very punishing, and you will die to something absolutely out of your control on occasions so if you're not willing to potentially waste an hour of your time on a death, this likely isn't something you'll enjoy. If you're a bit masochistic and want something akin to Stoneshards' ball busting this is a fantastic pick up and fingers crossed the updates are as diligent and fast paced as they've been so far.

Well, I had typed out a nice comprehensive review but steam decided to pick a fine time to bug out and i'm not redoing all of it. tldr; If you like the setting/genre with the price point being fair it's worth trying, but you're also going to completely forget about the game shortly after finishing it since it over-promises and under-delivers.

Game has a lot of conflicting systems where the first few hours are overloaded with information thinking you're going to be playing a battle of attrition and hunkering down for a long haul, I had 22 hours after finishing the game with several being afk. Difficulty past the 4 hour mark was nonexistent, and a lot of the exploration options started to repeat themselves and not really bring anything new or exciting to the game. The latter half especially just feels half baked and outside of getting the very few new ores you need to get to the next tier of equipment, you're so stocked up on resources you're just powering through everything else.

The setting and enemies(design/flavor wise, not mechanically) are top tier, story is fairly generic but the isolated sci-fi horror trope is done super well. Bosses/enemies(mechanically) were very sub par, with bosses especially just being egregious damage sponges. Some of the "hidden" sections consist of just having to tank through fire, poison, or acid and those segments are repeated an absurd amount of times, it's just bland and lazy design. There were very few actual puzzles, with only one standing out as actually making you think. The ending(at least mine, there are multiple) was fairly safe and generic, though none of the npcs really had any flavor so there was no real stakes on losing or saving anyone, they were just there to feed you gear and progress the story.

Wish steam had a better review system since yes/no isn't enough for some titles, this being among them, I think if you like the genre and setting it's a fair price point and especially the first 5-6 hours you'll be super engaged, but the game fell off a cliff after the 70% or so point for me. The game seems like it has a ton of content but it really doesn't, think there was a substantial amount of feature creep that didn't make it fully into the game, but the issue is they didn't properly trim those parts either so it just feels incomplete in many segments, the entire generator defense area in particular feels super half-baked. All of the side quests are giga-generic and boring back and forth playing village cupid or delivery job, they tried to give the npcs personalities via these but actually doing the quests are so mind-numbingly boring you just get annoyed at them afterwards.
