This is where the universe of Assassin's Creed began. Assassin's Creed is an enthralling, original game about old historical events, with a twist. In this game, you play as Desmond, an assassin in a clan of assassins, and your goal is to go into the past and discover who you are by observing your ancestors through the "Animus" as they participated in key historical events. The ancestor whose life you venture though in this game is Altair.

What I really like about this game is all the history you can learn from it. This game has an entirely fictional story with an accurate, non-fictional, historical environment. Many of the locations you visit in this game are similar (obviously not exact) to their real life counter parts during the time period the game takes place in. There are also real buildings and people that were recreated in this game, and when you encounter them the game tells you some of the history behind them. Also, the parkour in this game is unique and more complex than that of any other game that came before it. It provides very fun gameplay and plays a major role in the game's story.

What I dislike about this game is the side missions. They are all more like challenges and have practically no side story to them (that was probably intentional, but I still felt like they should have had some sort of side story). I think with something interesting to do in this game other than the main story missions, the game could have been a little better. That doesn't include the game's underlying story with Desmond, which I actually also found entertaining.

If you love parkour, stealth, and/or a 1100 A.D. theme, this is the game for you. I recommend this game to anyone, and it gets an 8/10 from me.

There is so much fun to be had in this game. Killing Floor is a simple, bloody, gory FPS where the only goal is to survive against waves of enemies called "specimens." The simplicity and mindless killing in this game make it attractive and hard to get over. I know that isn't the best description, but honestly this game is just really fun and addicting and I don't know how else to convey the reason why for a game like this.

The game is VERY repetitive, but it makes up for that with outstanding gameplay and Steam Workshop support, which means you can virtually never run out of maps or other content to play this game with. The game gives you a decently wide array of weapons for 7 different playable classes that are all vital to surviving as a team, especially at the higher-than-normal difficulties. In fact, teamwork is the most important aspect of this game, in my opinion and experience.

What this game does right is the gameplay. In my experience, there are very few bugs in the game that are either noticeable or make an impact on the gameplay. The simple system of completing a wave, buying new weapons, and starting the next wave make this game incredibly easy for newcomers to pick up quickly. It doesn't take very long to learn or develop strategies against each type of enemy in the game, and really, as long as you work well as a team you shouldn't have too much difficulty. Of course, you will need to level up your classes to play the higher difficulties optimally.

What this game does wrong is the voice acting. There are only 2 true voice actors: one male and one female. I admit it sometimes gets annoying hearing everyone on my team have the same voice. However, this isn't as much of a con as it would seem; the game certainly wasn't built around voice acting. In fact, the crappy voice acting for this game is one of the most memorable things about it, and I feel it adds to the game's own unique personality. I suppose, then, in some respect you would see it as a pro of the game rather than a con. Still, I think it would have been better to have a little better voice acting. That's something we have to look forward to in Killing Floor 2, I'm sure.

Other notes: the game's graphics aren't great, but they certainly aren't bad either. I wouldn't expect any better from 2009 game (which was originally a mod). The sounds are of average quality, but there are probably mods out there you can use to substitute them. The level design of all the maps that ship with the game is in such a way that you can't easily camp in one area for long, keeping you aware of your surroundings. The only AI in this game are the enemies, and they aren't necessarily smart; their only mission is to run (or walk, rather) straight at you and attempt to kill you. Like most games with mindless zombies, they are usually only dangerous in numbers.

If you want some good, fun, old-fashioned, mindless killing, this is game for you. If you want a game where you can play with friends and your goal is to survive against waves of enemies both easy and difficult, then I recommend this game to you. If you want something more complex and modern, something with more objectives, or something with better graphics and animations, then this might not be the game for you. As one of my favorite games, this game gets a 10/10 from me.

I found this game to be very enjoyable. I really liked the atmosphere, I thought the story was satisfying for a while but by the end I was left wanting just a little more, and I thought the environment was beautifully crafted. I do think this game could've used a little more color, though.

This isn't the best game around, but I like it. I think it's worth the price that it currently sells for. If you are in need of an interesting singleplayer game to play, try this one. I thought the "intimidation" feature where you can scare off enemies by just pointing a gun at them even if its not loaded was pretty cool and original. Climbing in this game can be fun. This game is really just full of unique features that you won't find in most other games of the post-apocalyptic survival category.

Other notes: the graphics are just good; not excellent, not average, but just good. The sounds reinforce the game's atmosphere pretty well. The AI can be tough to deal with at times. The level design itself is a puzzle at times.

Again, if you are looking for an interesting post-apocalyptic singleplayer game to play, this could be the game for you. If you want something more action oriented or roleplay-ish, you might want to skip this one. This game gets a 7/10 from me.

I'll start off by saying this game was an unexpected gem. Alpha Protocol is one of the best RPGs I have every played. The premise of the game is original, the dialogue is superb, and the story kept me interested. I felt that the characters were quite easy to get attached to after a few dialogues. There is one major flaw this game has, and that is the combat and stealth systems.

Combat and stealth, or just interacting with enemies in general, is extremely clunky in this game. At times it is frustratingly bad (for example, shooting enemies from <20 ft away and missing with half the magazine), but in my opinion the excellent dialogue, story telling, and decision making all make up for it. As other reviewers have said, another notable aspect of this game is that the decisions you make in this game actually change the way the story unfolds, unlike most games where they only change the ending. I think this gives the game more than a little additional replay value.

Other notes: the graphics are excellent compared to other games released around the same time. The sounds are of high quality. The voice acting is great, in my opinion. The level design is rather simple, but it works. The AI are pretty stupid, but that can be a pro or con depending on how you look at it.

If you are looking for a game that is rich in story and is addictive, this is the game for you. If you are looking for a combat oriented game with developed combat mechanics, you may want to try something else. I have to take 1 off for the crappy gameplay, but this game still gets a 9/10 from me.

As a huge fan of Alan Wake, I have to say I found Alan Wake's American Nightmare rather disappointing. What this game does well is the atmosphere, the gameplay, the voice acting, and other minor technical details. What is doesn't do well is the story.

The game gives you 9 missions, but it's more like 3; you essentially play 3 missions 3 times each. I won't go into detail, but each time you repeat one of the missions there is different dialogue and slightly modified objectives. You'll see what I mean after you finish the game. I think if the story hadn't been set up do this, it would have been a much better game. The game is actually labeled as a spinoff from the original set in the same universe, and man, ain't that the truth. If you were hoping to get any significant continuation of story from the original out of this game, I'm sorry to tell you, but you won't find it here. I would have been truly upset if this was the sequel.

Nevertheless, I still found the game enjoyable for everything it did right. If you are a die-hard Alan Wake fan, I recommend this to you. If you have not played Alan Wake before, I strongly urge you to play the original before playing this. If you played original Alan Wake and it wasn't necessarily your favorite game/you thought it was just alright, you might be better off waiting for the true sequel. Otherwise, this is a great game to pick up on a sale.
