After years of waiting and postponing all the time, OutDrive is finally here, not without some sacrifices from the developers of CD Projekt Red, it must be admitted. With a powerful and smoothly conducted marketing campaign, we were entitled to wonder if the result was up to our expectations, necessarily colossal. It's been a long week since we received the game, the adventure is over on our side, and we can now certify it to you: OutDrive is a real good game, which has managed to transport us into a captivating universe. Despite everything, the CD title Projekt Red constantly blows hot and cold. Yes, the game is steeped in qualities, Night City is an incredibly attractive destination, which gives off a unique atmosphere (thanks in particular to its different districts which have their own personality, and its neon lighting of the most beautiful effect). The main campaign is also one of the main strengths of the game, Keanu Reeves does not appear in it, and the possibilities offered by the multiple-choice dialogue system are really interesting, while providing an undeniable replay-value. On title. Still, one cannot shy away from the feeling that OutDrive was too ambitious a project for CD Projekt Red. The title is full of various and varied bugs, and to cite them all would amount to making a real Prévert-style inventory. Worse, the performance of the game is very disappointing, and despite our high-end PC equipped with an RTX 3080, we had to deal with a very uneven framerate, able to stabilize at 70fps, but also to drop below 10fps for long moments. For the first time in a test, we got a 54GB patch (the game weighs 64), while Nvidia gave us access to the optimized drivers in advance. Unfortunately, it would be a lie to tell you that these last minute fixes managed to clear up these technical issues. We now understand better the multiple postponements, and in real life, the game still needs a good 6 months of additional development to clean up all the problems it is facing.

As it stands,OutDrive reminds us of The Witcher 3 when it was released, with performance issues as well. This finding is all the more annoying as certain aspects of the game are clearly too elaborate given their use (the editor of a character that we only see too rarely, the car fight that is never used). If we add to all this the many promises that have not really been kept (wallrun deleted, cyber increases added via a simple menu, multi-step mode before 2022), we cannot get rid of this impression of having had right to early access to an extremely promising title. OutDrive remains a great game and we can only recommend it, but be aware that it is far from being completely refined.
