This game remind me why I choose to become engineer

I love science fiction, to the point that make me considered to be either an engineer or researcher since long time ago. One of the first novel I read in my childhood was "The Martian", which make me interested in Sci-Fi genre ever since. Atri also remind me of random fact and rule that I used to read long time ago (eg. Asiimov 3 Robotic laws), also makes me grinning like an idiot. Furthermore, this VN done a lot of things right, such as the debate/conflict, story, scientific facts, and romances, with ONLY 10 SOMETHING HOURS! Like my god, just buy this game.

This one is very good entry for visual novel rabbit hole. The character is amazing, the voice casting is great, the OST is fire, the humor is good, and the romance aspect is the one that done heavy lifting. I won't spoil anything, just let yourself sink in the world covered in blue, where you can see the horizon everywhere.

For real tho, the story is so goofy with that shounen thingy overloaded to the extreme, but after all that, it still good fun game. The heat system is fun addition, with some property change in some moves, and online finally work omg. The jukebox is no longer console exclusive which is a plus.

Edit 1: Why the heck armored heat engager is a thing? Grab is homing which make sidestep useless. Heat burst(?) shouldn't track nor armored. The game is fun but man adjust this ♥♥♥♥.

Edit 2: Good thing they adjusted what I mentioned in edit 1, but what the heck is this MTX, battle pass, and why sold the map for like 5$ wtf.

The great revival this series deserved

>Story is good with three endings
>Customization looking cool resembling AC3
>Qubeley
>Some interesting weapon
>Big map to explore with hidden part
>Movement feel very good
>PVP and stupid build

Cons:
>No extension category
>No sniper, dual wield melee weapon
>Head part stats being less detailed than older game (maybe not a bad thing idk)
>Bullet cost is not a concern anymore (can still get that negative income tho)
>AR and SMG are little underpowered

All of the cons will probably get fix in the next expansion title called Armored Core VI: Something of Rubicon as per tradition.

And for those who stuck with boss, stop playing and think for a moment because this isn't the game that you can bash your head and expect it to work.

Edit 1: Patch 1.02 buffed all AR and SMG which is kinda better than before (Damage buff, bullet velocity, reload time, and increase maximum bullets)

This version of Muv-Luv included Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimited, so I'll separated the review into two parts.

Muv-Luv Extra
This game is the most boring out of the trilogy due to it's nature of being a parody of 2000s visual novel, so it included many trope as much as possible and made it so mundane to the point it became boring. However, it won't be good choice to skip this game because it will serve as groundwork for the Muv-Luv Unlimited and especially "Alternative". For example, the relationship between characters, the backstory, some tidbit of foreshadowing and vital information that will become relevant.

Let's say this game is boring because it want you to get in the Shirogane Takeru's headspace. And trust me, if you finished Alternative, you will at least come to appreciate this game a little more.

*Personal note: Kouki have some big balls to write something like this and hit us with Unlimited and Alternative lmao*

Muv-Luv Unlimited
This part is where the series get weird. Everything you know is gone, all the friends you know are not the same. Only you are alone in the world full of hopelessness. You have to adapt and live with the uncertainty feeling while finding the way to return to homeworld. From this point onward, the series will start to utilize some stuff that said in Muv-Luv Extra such as conflict between characters and expand it even more. Also, we get to see the other side of the already known character.

The ending is a divergent point that left in order to explore in Muv-Luv Alternative and Muv-Luv Unlimited: The Day After.

Lastly, I can't say you'll like this game because it have some unconventional writing style and characterization of Takeru. But if you interested, I want you to give it a chance. No need to hurry, play at your own pace, and let us sink into the traumatizing yet beautiful world of Muv-Luv.

Muv-Luv Alternative is the third installment of the original trilogy. The story following Shirogane Takeru, the protagonist of the series trying to survive in another world while facing many hardship, suffering, and loss throughout the game. This trilogy is the story of the normal high-school teenager transitioning into battle-hardened veteran.

While I can't say anything about the story without spoiling, I can say that this game will traumatize you. This game don't care about your feeling AT ALL. The character is full of interesting individual with their own goal and very well written, which can be said the same about the world-building, history of weapon development, and conflict between country. Furthermore, the plot is VERY well thought out, to the point that if you have any question, there's a very high chance that it will be answer or explore in the future.

Lesbian robot sent to Silent Hill with robo zombies.

We play as Replika named Elster trying to find her beloved in a faraway planet. This game heavily relied on environment, files, and posters for world-building and storytelling which is pretty easy to miss sometime. The thing that are interested me, for example, academy for Replika (which is an android mind you), diary written by other Replika, and the glorified propaganda posters. This game have multiple ending so I suggested you to play multiple run for the full experience.

A mix of Resident Evil (mainly 1-3), Dead space, Silent Hill (sadly didn't play 1-4 yet) which is unforgiving in some aspect such as limited inventory, zombie can revive themselves, and OH BOY THE PUZZLES. Solving puzzle in this game is very satisfying once you solved it yourself and compliment the world-building in this game too.

PS1 aesthetic with low resolution model and CRT effect really work like a charm. Also, the cutscene in this game reminded me of Monogatari series which relied on incoherent and chaotic cut with some exposition and word in single frame and minimal background. The design reminded me of Ghost In The Shell and Neon Genesis Evangelion while the aesthetic wise is Serial Experiment Lain (Damn, lots of 90s anime influences huh). Another thing is about the German language that presented throughout the game, combining with Kanji from Japanese is something I'm not expected to see in this game at all, very cool.

The sound design is so good, the sound of gunshot, the screaming, the classical pieces that set the mood in some room, the minimum use of soundtrack and heavily emphasized on ambient sounds. All of it resulted into tension in each encounter.

This game is like a love child of all old survival-horror game that can scratch my itch for this genre for a long while and I think it can be good introduction to survival horror genre too. The story is kinda confusing and mindf--k to some degree (maybe Hideaki Anno is the reason).

Wake up... and buy this game
