I feel like out of no where this game came out, and I am so happy it came across my store page. You are thrown onto a ship, working for a company that requires to you jet around to different moons, gathering scrap in order to meet a quota. I went in blind and with three other people I didn't know. I traveled to different locations, trying to find my way through a maze with a flashlight trying to find random garbage to give to an unknown entity.

I spent six hours straight playing with randoms, meeting and failing quotas. Wanting to just rinse and repeat the same gameplay loop. It is perfect...and it is cheap fun for friends to spend a night trying to get as far as possible. The proximity voice is fair and perfect, I feel like this is the first game that has truly perfected it. The graphics are a perfect mix of grounded and stylized in a playstation one reality. Whether it be playing as the support character walking your friends through the warehouse maze, or being the terrified spelunker finding scrap, its just plain fun. The best part is that you can jump in anytime but its hard to put down.

I have no doubt that this will be the next game to take off, and honestly these people deserve it. No micros, great gameplay, simple loop, co-operative engagement and hilarious/terrifying scenarios. This came out a week ago (10/23/23) and I just want more. Good job Zeekers, you hit it out of the park.

Also a little side note here, I love the access terminal, ordering tools at the store and moving to different moons, I want more of that little gameplay mechanic in games.

TLDR: For the price of lunch you can spend hours finding scrap on an abandoned moon while being hunted by anomalies.

Imagine paying 60$ for an overhyped RPG to be welcomed with a sweater made out of bugs. If this company has anyone in charge of quality assurance or play testers, please fire them...it amazes me on how many bugs I have encountered in the measly seven hours I have played. How do you release a game with a bug that literally erases all your save data after five hours of gameplay or dialogue pop ups that act like adverts on a sketchy porn site. I wanted to play, I wanted to love it, I made an interesting character and I dove deep into it only to get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the ass. What kind of hidden alpha test is this ♥♥♥♥.

TLDR - Payed 60$ to get cucked by Fallout 77

-Great Voice Acting
-Amazing Atmosphere
-Likable Character(s)
-Builds on Old Mechanics
-Amazing Environment Design
-Notable Story
-Valve Finish

(Includes additional content in advanced mode)

Cons

-Beginning Environments Feel Unfinished
-Some People May Find Tests Too Hard

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I see no absolute difference in quality when putting Portal Stories:Mel along with Portal 1/2. This full separated story includes valuable level design, fantastic environments and a story to actually care about. Throughout the game you are challenged to find solutions to some pretty challenging puzzles. Some of these chambers left me confused and stuck for quite a while. Although while stuck I had time to appreciate the environment design that was displayed on each jigsaw of a chamber. Overall this mod struck me as a quality representation of a valve game, which includes the voice acting. Although limited dialogue, the actors did a great job of setting the tone for most of the game. I will play this again on advanced mode, even if it takes me an hour each testing chamber.

TLDR - Its Portal 3 hiding behind the title of Portal Stories: Mel with the difficulty of both Portal 1/2 combined.

5/5 - Challenging / Beautiful / Thoughtful / Replayable

After the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ release of 2016 No Mans Sky lost all my trust as a video game. All I saw was an empty god forsaken puddle that was an inch shallow. Obviously the Hello Games was not prepared to release this to the public for many reasons. Fast forward to 2020 and it shines bright as a fine example of a developer taking care of their players. Hello Games isn't some multi-billionaire company that can dump a bunch of money into development but damn do they act like one. The game is not riddled with microtransaction trash...if there is micros I havn't found it yet. The game is saturated with great content that rewards players who explore. My character is a Gek Mechanic who resides in a scrapyard (that I built) on a barren planet within a yellow star solar system. I comb my planet, system and others to find broken down ships and stranded explorers to either take the ship and repair it myself or lend a hand to the deserted aliens. Whether its fixing up a ship for cash, repairing a multitool, scrapping near by crashed freighters or trading with my fellow Geks. I (as a character) am presented with opportunity and choices that fit my role as a scavenger. Many encounters, minor settlements, abandoned buildings, trade outposts, alien structures, sentinel bases, crashed ships, stranded aliens, exosuit pods, and many more await to be discovered. I cannot tell you how many times I was presented with a new encounter where my reaction was filled with curiosity. Each encounter comes with dialogue which was written by someone who deeply cares about immersive experiences and reading them helps me dive deeper in not only my character but the universe of No Mans Sky itself.

TLDR - Game sucked in 2016. Game is a Shining Diamond in the AAA Trash we have today in 2020. Look past the rough release and buy it. On sale or not Id buy this game at 60$.

-Great Brain Teaser
-Exploration and Freedom
-Multiple Endings
-Rewards for Slower Players
-Long Gameplay
-Voiced by Tommy Weiseu (No Not Really) But its a good comedic relief

Cons
-Some Puzzles are Questionable
-The Boat Levels (Actually Terrible)
-Not Immediately Replayable (Beating This in a Couple Days was Draining)
-The NPCs look Kindof Weird?
-Some Questionable Level Design

Overall I would give this game a respectable 3.5/5 Which in my book is absolutely amazing. This game will keep you busy for hours if not days. I rushed through just because Im impatient, if you like slower paced games and relaxing gameplay this is for you. Also, this is the most puzzle solving I have done in a while and my brain hurts a bit. Do me a favor, don't look up the ending, don't look for help online and don't look up the game on youtube. This game rewards players who take their time. I would recomend this game to anyone.
