This could've been so much better.

- If you're going to remaster face models, do it for EVERY CHARACTER, not just the main characters. I was watching the opening cinematic, all of the NPC's had the same face textures as before, including young Vito.
- Textures on buildings look the same. I was watching the beginning intro of the Sicily mission where the camera pans in and lets you see the building for a brief moment before it shows Vito and his men moving in. The textures look rough and blurry on buildings, they don't look remastered at all. They look the same as the original.
- Explosions look like 2010 explosions, did you forget to upgrade this?
- Removing Depth of Field from cinematics doesn't make it look remastered, in fact having Depth of Field gives it a more cinematic look.

The differences are too subtle for it to be called a remaster. I'm glad they didn't charge existing Mafia 2 owners anything for this remaster so I can't exactly call it a cash-grab, but c'mon, don't be lazy. I'll be playing more through the game when I get the time, and I'll edit this review and add more to it if I see any more flaws with the remaster.

You better not mess up Mafia 1 Remake...

*BEAT THE GAME ON XBOX, GOT THIS FOR PC JUST TO TRY VR SO THAT'S WHY I ONLY HAVE 2 HOURS PLAYTIME*

Should you buy it? No.

It's a 15 hour game that could've easily been cut to 6-8 hours in length. It includes nothing but filler content that becomes incredibly tedious and boring towards the end, making you question "why tf is this game still going? The game should've ended hours ago". Honestly, it is so painful to get through. Even the ending has these QTE moments which are so out of place and looks ridiculous as both the player and alien completely come to a freeze, just to wait for you to push the QTE button.

The game always follows the same formula of...
"Activate this, restore power, go here, go there. Repeat"

Also, the AI is terrible and is incredibly overrated, it mainly consists of people over-exaggerating how great it is because a couple of reviewers said so.
- Pick up essential objective item, Alien then spawns in the level and roams the area until you hide in a locker. At that point he'll jump in the vents and not come back until you exit the locker. Even if you don't move after exiting the locker, he'll come back and roam the area because the game script tells him to do so.
- AI is blind sometimes.
- Each playthrough is the same, he's scripted to roam certain areas and this won't change with each playthrough you do.
- Alien doesn't react to other humans talking on the ship.

First quarter of this game is great, visuals are fantastic, atmosphere is perfect, but the majority of the game is just a letdown.

Ignore the negative reviews, full of nostalgia ridden retarded kids who can't grasp the idea of a remake.

"wheres muh clocktower"
"its tuh shawt"

Game is great, runs smooth, looks fantastic. I'm three hours in so far and I already feel like I've got my money's worth, having so much fun with it. I've been told that it also offers a shop at the end for unlockables which adds replayability to the game along with a Nightmare difficulty. The game is slightly more action orientated compared to RE2 which means it's faster paced, however it is still able to maintain the horror aspect throughout. Nemesis is amazing, he had me running to the saferooms constantly.

Oh and by the way, RE3 original was short too. Stop crying about the length. ;)

I recommend it.
