Underrail is a hardcore top-down turn based rpg about people, mutants, and horrors which you can't possibly imagine, all living underground due to things happening hundreds of years ago.

The game is going to be hard to approach at the start, it's going to lure you in with one or two easy tasks, turn on some generators, alright, sure.
Catch some little rat things called hoppers, okay, can do.
Enter the hellscape that is known as Depot A? Sure, what's the worst that could happen?

If you get past Depot A, and are okay with how that dungeon goes for you, then you are ready for the rest of the game. It's a test of sorts, it puts you in a zone with horrors everywhere, traps, mazes, new damage types you previously hadn't encountered, and no guidance on where to go. If you make it, you are ready.

Underrail is my second favorite CRPG (although its a modern take on one) just behind Fallout 2, as someone who started with fallout 2, i tried to make a few characters like i would do in fallout 2.

None of them got past Depot A.

Fallout 2 is a lovely game, but if you play this like fallout 2, you will have a bad time, your Build is your Life.
If your Build is bad, your Life wont be so good either.
The game has several difficulty levels, and you should think of them as being one step up from what they tell you when you do your first run. Easy, thats your new normal, normal is your hard, hard is your dominating, and dominating is impossible (you can beat it one day, i believe in you)

The game also features two diffrent modes of leveling up, Classic, wich as you might guess, means enemies give XP when killed, and quests do the same, easy to understand, a true classic.
However, i suggest embracing the oddity.
Oddity mode doesn't give you xp for killing, it gives you xp for exploring (quests do still give you xp)
The way it works is there are items you can find in the game known as oddities, there are a limited ammount but there are enough to reach max level and then some, so you won't be struggling for levels any time, they can be found in containers, peoples pockets, in stores, as loot from enemies and sometimes inside toilets.... what an experience.

So now that you picked your difficulty, and again, don't be ashamed of easy, its perfectly fine, its time for your build, your life. You.

Focus is everything, pick a primary damage stat, what does it scale from? guns and crossbows? Perception, pump that when possible, Big hammer? Strength baby!

Second, Defense: Do you want to be a thick boy and take hits to the face like a man? or slim and fast, dodging all the shots while dispensing justice.
Stealth is a luxury, sometimes an option for survival, but when you need it the most, it won't be there for you, better to use to get rid of primary targets before going in, guns blazing.

Lockpicking and hacking are very nice, but not mandatory, although you're constantly going to be a sad pipeworker every time you go up to a box and it beeps in your face with a Hack 130 marker, and you look at your puny hack of 20.
Traps are nice to use with stealth or crossbows, or just to not step in them yourself.

CRAFTING:
Either you completely ignore it (which is the simpler, but much more difficult option (unless PSI, then its not as bad to skip, but you would still benefit greatly) or you go into crafting hard.

Mechanics lets you make mechanical things, Big guns, Slam hammers, repair kits, one of the most important crafting skills.
Electronics lets you make energy weapons, tasers, devices like night vision goggles and PSI boosting helmets, but most importantly of all, SHIELDS (you will need one or you will die)

Chemistry together with its sister Biology lets you make medical stuff, turn animal parts into chemical parts, make grenades and other things you could do with chems. (Quick tip: if you are going a gun build, i advise atleast 20 chemistry, that lets you make armor piercing rounds called W2C rounds, very good)

Tailoring lets you work with hide and leather aswell as kevlar and other textiles, you will need this for armor crafting, put a good amount of points into it if you are a heavy armor user, and ALOT of points into it if you are a leather armor user.

The Psi skills are all very strong and going over all of the trees would take too long, but most builds can use a little bit of PSI, 45 metathermics and 75 Temporal Manipulation will let you manipulate the battlefield and buff yourself to be a better you even if you don't want to be a Drugged up Cave Wizard... or maybe you do.

Persuasion and Intimidation are social skills, they are NOT fallout 2 levels of power, you can't talk your way out of bossfights, you can't talk with spiders, rats or [REDACTED], instead you can use it to get alternate paths in quests, better rewards, or lore.

Mercantile is nice to have, it makes stuff cheaper, and lets you expand inventories of merchants so you can see their spicy stuff they hide behind the counter.

At the time of writing this review, i have 145 hours, 87 hours on my finished playthrough, of the base game aswell as the expansion, the other hours are all failed characters that never made it very far.

The story, the lore, all the little tidbits, the settlements, the bandit camps, the crazies and the drug trips you go on, it's what makes this game special.
Oh, and do make sure to go on a few drug trips with Dude, he seems whack, but he's pretty chill, just don't do it until you're ready.. or keep a save handy.

This is the best game i played in 2019, and i was ready to give up on it several times, i am glad i did not, for every single time i had a bad time, i had many more times of amazement and wonder at the things you can find, read and blast apart with a 8.6 mm assault rifle.

Do give underrail a try if you are ready for a Hardcore top-down RPG with some of the best atmosphere i have had in a game like this, and give the muties in Depot A a real kick in the teeth.

Alright, lets begin: I am very Biased, the Souls series is my favorite game series of all time and I'd buy almost any DLC Fromsoftware makes.

Ashes of Ariandel took me about 4 hours to beat, this was on a character of level 250 at NG++ (Thats the third playthrough)

I think the dlc was quite fun for me, i really enjoyed the new weapons, enemies, bosses and areas.
I have not tried the PvP arena but i have heard that its quite fun.

Without trying to spoil the DLC, it's pretty short, and its obvious that this DLC was meant to correct some annoyances people had about the PvP, the PvE content just being there for a little bit of lore and gameplay.
The new weapons are very unique and we don't have to farm enemies to get them, they are all world loot (wich does make getting multiple of the same weapon a bit annoying)

The DLC had a distinct lack of Sanctum Crossbow, that does make it lose atleast 1 point :)

I recommend this dlc if you just want more content for DS3, if you want to try one of the hardest bosses in DS3 or you really like Duel PvP.

Alright, so first of all, i will be comparing this to "Tales of Vesperia (360 Version)" quite alot since thats the first Tales game i played and its known as one of the best tales games, So prepare to die, Eggbear!

Tales of Zestiria.
Where to begin....

The story is pretty good, its a bit generic with the whole "Chosen one" saving the world from "Evil" concept, but overall it was quite good.
The main character isn't as good as Yuri Lowell from Vesperia, but i still quite liked Sorey (I just hate how his name is pronounced, i expected it to be Sorei, its So-Ray..

Graphics were pretty good, the artstyle was nice, the animated cutscenes (not the ones that are In-Engine) were beautiful like they always are, i will say however, Vesperia's artstyle was a bit nicer, felt warmer, Cities had a distinct feel to them....

Gameplay includes lots of mashing buttons (Its best to not randomly mash tho, good to learn what all the skills do and when to use them so you can quickly mash out a 4 hit combo that the enemy is weak to) and also alot of talking to people or just watching a scene.
I was surprised how much death was in this game compared to Vesperia, in Vesperia its implied that you do kill every monster and most humanoid enemies aswell, but you don't really see them die, get stabbed, cut or bleed, They would usually just fade away, where as in this game i did see alot more of that wich was a bit diffrent than what i was used to in a Tales game.

Game length: An average playthrough takes between 40-60 hours, can take more if you farm alot, I did most sidequests on my first playthrough, as far as i know i missed one or two, i also skipped the EX-Dungeon as i didn't wanna spend 5 hours at 6 AM running around with LV 70 Enemies.

Characters: The main characters and notable characters you encounter throughout the game are well designed, pretty well voiceacted (though Mikleo in the first 4th of the game is a bit hilarious) and they all have a good chemistry between eachother, i dont like the whole Alisha issue however and that did sour me a bit on the character on a whole.... so i made her wear a goofy moustache and large goofy glasses.
-Main Character is pretty generic, he however loves archeology, so thats cool.
-Mikleo (Meebo) is pretty simmilar to Sorey, but he's alot funnier as he gets annoyed easily
-Pun-Master Lailah... She likes Puns... i dont...
-Edna, Rita without any emotion, and lacks tidal wave spamming.
-Dezel, obessed with revenge, has shark teeth (must be annoying to keep that sharp)
-Zaveid, Exactly what i'd imagine a young Raven to act like. (I know Zaveid is not young, he looks young however)
-Alisha, I WAS ROBBED OF MY SPEAR USER!!!!!!
-Rose, You'd think a human with knives would be better than a Dog with a knife... she's not.

Combat: I am very used to the Vesperia system, where aslong as you learnt a very easy system, you could combo almost any move into another forever and just keep doing damage forever aslong as you had enough MP (MP? forgot what Vesperia used) aswell as the overlimit system. Zestiria's combat system is extremely annoying at first, it will take you some time to learn it, you get punished if you try to just mash random attacks, it wont work well unless you play on Simple.

Equipment System: So this section would normally not exist, its an RPG, it has items and stuff, what did you expect?
Well..... Zestiria screws with equipment quite alot...
In Vesperia, if you ever entered a new area there was a high chance that a new item you found was an instant upgrade or sidegrade, where as in Zestiria.... gear has its default stats... and randomised skills on the items, and an annoying system to combine skills.

If you're the kind of person that loves to read guides and look at spreadsheets and charts just to become the most powerful... you will love this system... I didnt, I would have liked the Vesperia system of "This item is the best, its always the best" and not "Hey... go farm 1000 items just to START making the ultimate weapon, then do it again for all your characters"

Conclusion: Zestiria is a great 50-70 hour game that can possibly turn into a 400 + hours game depending on how much farming and how many ng+'s you wanna do.
.A game with great characters and artstyle (Its extremely anime styled, i mean Cmon... its a JRPG, what did you expect?)
.Good Story
.Good Controls (if you use a gamepad, have not tried keyboard yet)
.One of those games able to give me shivers down my spine every time there's a cutscene (IN A POSITIVE WAY.....yeah... i know... I'm weird..)
.30 FPS (60 with a mod, pretty easy to install, seems to update every 2 days or so, with an automatic update process)

Sadly the game had a lack of Rita Mordio, Edna was a somewhat acceptable substitute, but it's just not the same...

oh... and theres alot of puns... like alot... you might facepalm a few times... or audibly groan..

Dark Souls™: Prepare To Die™ Edition is quite an easy game, perfect for kids, people with ptsd and people suffering from some sort of rage problem.

The gameplay is quite simple, you have to find the hidden cookies in the bushes, but WHATS THAT? Its Grandma, You have to hurry to find all the cookies fast before grandma catches you. Once you finish finding the hidden cookies the real battle begins.

So then you visit a war torn city and help out the nice but sad people who live there, maybe help an old man cross the street, donate some money to the homeless and talk to the head honcho of the neighbourhood.

After a nice conversation with him you keep moving towards the religious area of this war torn city and meet many nice people, a nice little piggy and even a trusty smith, you then move towards the chapel and talk to the nice priest there, he explains that the bell has not been rung in ages because the priest's back is not that well and he cannot climb the ladder anymore, so he sends you on a quest to ring the bell, and thats about as much as i want to spoil about this lovely and simple game.

Perfect port, Recommend playing with a keyboard or Racing Wheel + Pedals.
Score: 6 - Perfect Score.
