NOVEMBER 6, 1942:

The Red Army and its combatant cadres have become an effective force, not only capable of withstanding the onslaught of the German fascist troops, but also of defeating them in open battle and driving them back.

FEBRUARY 23, 1943:

It is by no means fortuitous that the High Command of the Red Army is not only liberating our Soviet soil from the enemy, but it is also preventing him from leaving our soil alive, executing such formidable operations in surrounding and annihilating the enemy armies as may serve as models in the art of war. This is undoubtedly a symptom of the maturity of our commanders.

FEBRUARY 24, 1943:

There can be no doubt that the correct strategy of the Red Army Command and the flexible tactics of our commanders in the field, alone enabled them to carry out such an outstanding operation as the surrounding and the annihilation of a vast army of picked German troops numbering over 330,000 troops near Stalingrad.

NOVEMBER 7, 1943:

Our officers and generals are skilfully handing their troops and are successfully mastering the art of Generalship. The Red Army has become the most formidable and seasoned modern army in the world.

MAY 1, 1944:

The Red Army successes became possible owing to the correct strategy and tactics by the Soviet Command, to the high morale and the élan of our men and women and commanders – to the fact that our troops have been well supplied with first-class Soviet war materials, and to the enhanced skill and training of our artillerymen, mortar gunners, tank-men, airmen, signals, sappers, infantrymen, cavalry and our scouts.

JULY 23, 1944:

The Soviet Navy cooperating with the Soviet Red Army, had dealt the enemy mighty blows on his flanks and in the rear of his maritime groupings, and has secured the maritime flanks of our troops against the enemy landing troops and blows from the sea. The combined operations of the Soviet Navy and of the Soviet Red Army in the defence of Odessa, Sevastopol and Novorossiysk have pinned down large forces of the enemy for a prolonged period of time and have thereby held back the advance of the Germans on the main directions. In the days of the heroic defence of Odessa, Sevastopol, Stalingrad, Leningrad, the Soviet sailors have covered themselves with unfading glory.

NOVEMBER 7, 1944:

During the fighting last winter and summer, the Red Army has displayed greater fighting ability. The men of the Red Army skilfully demolished the enemy’s fortified zones and swiftly pursued, surrounded and annihilated the enemy. In the course of these offensive operations the actions of all Arms of the Service were closely coordinated and high skill in manoeuvring was displayed. Our Soviet troops became steeled in battle and learned to rout and vanquish the enemy. The Red Army grew into a formidable force, and is now superior to the enemy in fighting ability and war materials.
