I actually joined this group two days ago in hopes of finding this out.

I went to an event in 2008 and had a blast but I've been without a proper gaming PC since then. When's the next LAN? Where do I give you my money?

well here is the deal, due to circumstances that were a product of drunken irrationality, disinterest, and just general slapdicism... I doubt there is going to be an event at whempys that isn't invite only.

but to answer your question, there is one semi-serious LAN at OSU, although I am pretty sure you have to be a current student to attend. Also, try as I might, I cannot for the gods of gods get the guy I rent from to sign off on letting us whore his completely empty yet prime office space.

I would be interested. I live about 30-40 minutes from Columbus and would come. I know at least 3 other people who would be interested too.

Where i was going to setup would delaware, in basically an old warehouse area. Parking out the ass, decent and free internet, there are offices that havent been used in over a decade that are linked together with doors. There are 4 architect offices with nothing in them, could easily get 15-20 people in one of them, and there is a really big central office we could get 35 people in. not to mention that the power grid is over 400amps, they used to build robots in the back. There is a real deal bathroom in the center of everything, I mean the place would be absolutely perfect. I rent at the far southwest end of this building and I am the only tennet. There is one very small office being used at the extreme other end for a landscaping business that runs out of the warehouse area. I would estimate that there is over 2500sq ft of usuable space if they don't clean anything out. I have a lot of computers, servers, parts, cables, tools, etc down at my shop and it would be a piece of cake to host it all there. My problem is I have been working on the owner for over 2 years now to see if I could rent the area out for a couple weekends a year. I get a lot of runaround from him on the subject.

That sounds amazing! Maybe there would be more interest in it for him if he saw a list of people who would be willing to pay to rent the area out. Show him some proof that there's definitely some money in it for him and he'd be stupid not to let you use it.

Unless he's doing something illegal and more lucrative with the space.

brother, i have shown him the whempys dispatch article, I showed him pictures from the old days, I have a copy of an old LAN confirmation list with 96 people on it, I showed him video we have of the tournaments.... not even really a bite.

Trust me, this space is totally vacant and devoid of anything other than some junk on the side rooms, it has been this way for about 11 years. No one is using it, no one is using shit.

Learning DOTA 2 makes me want a LAN real bad.

Yeah, man. There's nothing better than at the very least having a 5 man in the same room ast you and just yelling across to people to push mid. It's a good time.

i would be down for a lan, how ever dota and cs:s and cs:go are the only games i play. well primarily dota cs:go is for when im really bored
