The only issue I have with combat is the game is a bit too easy if you get good at it. Plus, as you power up your wraith abilities, Talion becomes SUPER over powered, but that's where most of the fun is; playing God.

If your computer can handle it, the graphics are beautiful. I'm pretty proud of my PC. It's kind of beefy, but it bowed to the might of this 40g download. I had to crank the pretty graphics down to play :( made me sad.

But I didn't realize how much I had been talking about this game so I'm gonna wrap this up.

The nemesis system and the wraith abilities tie together to create the first TRUE next-gen experience in video games. SoM is the first, grand milestone of this generation. Being similar but superior in every regard vs. AC and next-gen disappointments, the game silently calls them out and leaves them a lot to answer for in terms of lacking innovation amongst their 100's of sequels. Worth every dollar of it's price, this epic adventure earns a 10/10. Fantastic work, Monolith, but now you guys are a city on a hill, and the whole gaming world is watching. Just don't sell out to Activision or EA and I'll think you'll be fine.

Take heart, gamers! Shadow of Mordor has layed hope on the horizon!

Looks like developers are learning the lessons that fans have been screaming for nearly a decade now: GFWL sucks.

As we all know, it's primary purpose was to counter piracy, and - as always with DRM - it backfired. Legit customers were locked out while pirates were in before day 1 release. More advanced PC users have also stated some security concerns that are too techy for me to know, but it's worth noting.

What bothers me here is this is the 2nd time Micro$oft has done this. I was a HUGE fan of Xbox Live back with the first Xbox. People (mostly unpunished hackers) were still RABIDLY playing Halo 2, Counter-Strike, Chaos Theory ect, but Micro$oft did the unthinkable: THEY CUT THE SERVICE TO XBL, which left thousands (millions?) of broken hearted gamers lamenting that their favorite games will never be played online ever again. Not only this, but a lot of them weren't interested/can't afford the X360, so they were left out to dry. Some were internet-only friends who will probably never see each other again.

So now that GFWL is being dropped like a hot potato, what's to make us think that M$ won't do the same to the X360 or the Xbone-head? They have severed all trust with anyone who has a brain.

My thoughts on DRM is it's like gun-control laws. People want guns to defend themselves from criminals. Gun control prevents legal people from owning them, but how is a law supposed to stop a criminal? The entire point of calling them "criminals" is they ignore law and do as they please. Now, criminals have guns and the innocent, law-abiding people are defenseless. Same thing here: law only affects the people who are willing to obey them.

Now for some good news: Resident Evil 5 and other titles from CAPCOM are being brought to Steamworks! Hell yeah! CAPCOM already removed it from their Street Fighter 4 series, so this was what we were hoping for. Now if only we can get the DLC we've been screaming about for years....

I:S is another zombie game, but hold the phone! It's from an indie company called Toge. Their "Infectonator" series has come to great acclaim and for good reason: this is one of the few companies that's trying to do something different with the zombie trope, and I:S is yet another great effort!

It plays like tower defense. You have 4 surviving humans that spawn from the left side of the screen and zombies who spawn the opposite. Various clutter and debris make for narrow paths the zombies must pass. If they reach the far left, they "damage" you. If too many zombies pass, it's game over.

Your humans are your towers, essentially. You can move them in real time to reposition, or if you get really good, you can back pedal to kite the zombies. One starts with quite the potent melee weapon which brings about the formation to have your melee man dig-in and your others to gun down the zombies.

The music is fantastic as well as the pixel art. And no; I don't mean "hurr durr pixel is nostalgia" kind of pixel art. I mean GOOD pixel art. The character illustrations are equally commendable. The weapon firing and reload sounds are all satisfying. When it all clicks, the game plays like a forgotten SNES classic.

I was having a blast for the first several rounds. However, tedium quickly began to set in. The enviornments are terribly bland washouts of gray. I know it's supposed to be an apocolypse, but I only saw 2 templates of missions. The visual redundancy really weighs on the game early.

Your squad has a neat progression/weapon customiziation system, but they "level up" far too slow, as enemy difficulty ACCELERATES. I was only able to hold my own because I was lucky enough to stumble on an M249 S.A.W.

The player has to manage a few resources (thankfully ammo isn't one): Supply, Fuel, and Cash. Supply keeps your team alive. No supplies=game over. Fuel allows you to drive to new areas, and Cash is for shopping (but for now, it's only for Supplies and Bombs). You can buy bombs to help thin the crowds of zombies. You only get about 1-2, so they don't help too much.

Cash let's you do 2 other things: you can heal survivors mid wave, and build automated sentry guns to relieve pressure (or even hold its own). Sentries are expensive, though. While oddly the tutorial says that turrets are $100, they cost $250 in game. I smell an exploit of microtransactions....

This causes another problem: you are supposed to manage these resources, but they are consumed faster than you can aquire them. Additional surviors means additional Supply cost. Harder difficulty means more sentries and healing, which means each mission is now "costing you" to play them.

(Edit) Another issue I have is the NPC AI. I don't even have to say it. I just say "It's a zombie game where you have to protect someone" and you all know what I mean. It's the same damn issue we've had with zombie "escort" mission since the dawn of freakin' time. The year is 2014, folks; this 2 decade-old issue isn't acceptable anymore.

There is also a game-breaking glitch. If you tell your human to move one direction, it seems - under duress - they always run BACKWARD 2 tiles, THEN to safety, which of course kills them unfairly.

You also can't control your survivors very much when the fight first starts, and there are zombies in the starting area. My scientist ran right into a zombie with no legs and died INSTANTLY, and may I add that death is ABSOLUTELY PERMANENT; so starting a game with one idiot that runs into his insta-death followed by having to protect someone who insists on staying at the far right of the screen in the zombie spawn point are YOUR fault and therefore you are punished PERMANENTLY. That'll be $12.99, please.

It all adds up: it's just another mobile game by the numbers.

Besides, you can play it for free at armorgames.com. To charge 10+ bucks for a game that's already free is a scam. Go play it for free for about an hour and be done with it. 4/10

First, some bad news: MvM Solly might be suspended indefinately. I ran into a lot of extra problems making this one due to updates and job transition IRL, and I think I'm just too frustrated to go on, as well as there being very little reward for doing so.

Good news: I found a great site called GoG or Good old Games (gog.com). As the title implies, it has a large collection of old games dating from the late 90's and backwards. May I recommend Dungeon Keeper Gold, Dungeon Keeper 2, and Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2. Best part is most of - if not all of them - are DRM free. Buy, download, update, play. It's that easy. Don't forget to run them in their proper compatability modes as well as running them as "administrator" or you're gonna have a bad time. Specifically, with RCT, I've found it's best to shut it down with task manager to avoid crashes.
