Trouble in Terrorist Town - Rules and Guidelines Page
Rules and Regulations for the Trouble in Terrorist Town server.

As a general rule, assume that all punishments include a warning unless administration decides that it is not necessary, or when the punishment is a kick/ban.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Rules

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Random Death Match, Attempted RDM, Prop Killing
Killing a player without an appropriate reason is against the rules. Attempting to randomly kill another player falls under this rule. This rule also includes using a prop to kill another player without reason, (i.e., Prop Killing.) (Four RDMs at once is an automatic permanent ban; Mass RDM)
  • 1st Offence: One rounds of slay
  • 2nd Offence: Two extra rounds of slay (3 total)
  • 3rd Offence: One Week Ban
  • 4th Offence: Permanent Ban
Killing an innocent may be KOSed or suspicion may simply be placed, depending on the circumstances, regardless whether you are an Innocent or a Traitor.

Random Death Match and Leave
Killing a player without an appropriate reason and leaving the server, without receiving the appropriate punishments, is also against the rules; a popular tactic for trolls is to RDM and immediately leave to avoid punishment. (Attempted RDM and leave is not punishable, as it is too difficult to determine what is attempted, or not).
  • 1 RDM and Leave: One day ban
  • 2 RDM and Leave: One week ban
  • 3 RDM and Leave or more: Permanent ban

Random/False KOS
Randomly calling a KOS on someone, or calling a KOS without sufficient proof. Traitors can call KOS, but only in self defense in order to direct attention away from themselves. Randomly calling a KOS as a traitor (i.e., Claiming someone has a knife, when they do not) is against the rules.
  • 1st Offence: One rounds of slay
  • 2nd Offence: Two extra rounds of slay (3 total)
  • 3rd Offence: One Week Ban
  • 4th Offence: Permanent Ban

Delaying Rounds
As a traitor, a player needs to complete traitorous acts. Camping in rooms, putting off traitorous acts until the end of round, not killing anyone at all during round, etc. counts as delaying the game.
  • 1st Offence: Verbal Warning
  • 2nd Offence: Slay (No Warn)
  • 3rd Offence: Kick, with reason
  • 4th Offence: Slay and warn

Traitor Baiting
  • Traitor baiting is allowedon our server, but is at your own risk.
  • A player may not realize you are joking and immediately defend themselves. If someone realizes you are joking, but feels you are excessively T-baiting and distracting from the game, after two warnings they have the right to KOS you (see rule below).
[/i][/list]

Excessive Traitor Baiting
Traitor baiting is part of TTT, at least on the Unity server, but excessive traitor baiting distracts from the game, and annoys other players. Players have the right to KOS excessive traitor baiters, and moderators may take action.
  • 1st Offence: Warn and Slay
  • 2nd Offence: Warn & Day ban
  • 3rd Offence: Week Ban

Mic Spamming, Text Spamming, or Voice Changers
Using the voice chat or any text chat to voice/display nonsensical or repetitive messages, or the use of third-party software to alter voice chat.
  • 1st Offence: Gag/Mute one round
  • 2nd Offence: Gag/Mute two rounds
  • 3rd Offence: Gag/Mute permanent until staff decides otherwise
  • 4th Offence: Permanent ban if spamming continues, due to toxicity to the server.

Harassment
This includes disrespectful statements, sexual harassment, racism, and/or any form of bigotry directed at other players. This also includes the deliberate targeting of a staff member or player on the server, for the purpose of antagonizing them. Unity Gaming, however does not wish to limit a freedom of speech in gaming.
  • 1st Offence: Depending on severity: Kick, Day Ban, or Week Ban
  • 2nd Offence: Permanent ban

(1) Exploiting, (2) Prop Surfing
(1) Exploiting any bugs or errors of the game or specific TTT maps, for any reason. (2) As for prop surfing; exploiting props in Garry's Mod to "surf" or fly in the game - this is allowed unless the player is reaching an area that isn't meant to be reached.
  • 1st Offence: Verbal warn to refrain from using exploit
  • 2nd Offence: Kick
  • 3rd Offence: One week ban
  • 4th Offence: Permanent ban

Exploitable Areas
  • There are a number of exploitable positions on the map "Skyscraper" that are noteworthy. (1) Landing on the wall below the building, possible only by doublejump, is technically an exploit, as players who fall all that way are supposed to die on impact. (2) The area above the air conditioning units, on the roof of the building, is technically inaccessible unless assisted by another player or using a prop. This area is too advantageous, and is considered an exploit. (3) An area below the accessible floors of the building is sometimes accessible using exploits, and can be used to see through walls and floors. This area is off limits, as it's used to observe all other player's actions.

Ghosting
Disclosing information to live players while dead/spectating involving the current game-state. (i.e., Disclosing to a live player who the traitors are).
  • 1st Offence: Day ban
  • 2nd Offence: Week ban
  • 3rd Offence: Permanent ban

Meta Gaming/Fail TTT
Fail TTT and meta gaming can include forms of cheating, through sensitive communications between innocents and traitors, or excessive traitorous acts committed by an innocent player. (i.e., A traitor confiding in an innocent that they are a traitor and enlisting their help, or an innocent player breaking health stations and/or traitor testers, etc.). Fail TTT ruins the game for players playing legitimately.
  • 1st Offence: Warn
  • 2nd Offence: Warn and day ban
  • 3rd Offence: Warn and week ban
  • 4th Offence: Permanent ban

Cheating, or Hacking
Using third party software in order to gain the upper hand during gameplay, or otherwise hacking the game. Players caught using hacks may have their actions subjected to further investigation, in order to find reasonable cause for punishment.
  • 1st Offence: Permanent ban

(1) Claiming to be Staff, (2) Impersonating Staff
(1) Falsely claiming to be a staff member on the server (2) Changing Steam name to impersonate a staff member within the server.
  • 1st Offence: Verbal warning to cease impersonation
  • 2nd Offence: Week ban
  • 3rd Offence: Permanent ban

Illegible Names or Highly Offensive Names
Names that contain special characters and cannot be typed by staff, or are offensive enough (i.e., racist, bigoted, etc.) to upset players on the server.
  • 1st Offence: Verbal warning to change name
  • 2nd Offence: Kick
  • 3rd Offence: Day ban (and warn)
  • 4th Offence: Permanent ban

Offensive Sprays
Using offensive images as an in-game spray (i.e., nudity, gore, racism, etc.)
  • 1st Offence: Depending on the severity verbal warning, or kick
  • 2nd Offence: Permanent ban

Toxicity
In Unity Gaming we support a friendly environment, and toxicity is NOT tolerated. If you are toxic to our environment we reserve the right to remove you from it. If a staff member determines that you are being EXTREMELY toxic he/she has the right to permanently ban you from our server or week ban you on the first offence. (i.e., excessively breaking the rules, incessant negative or unconstructive criticisms, unstable conduct towards other players, etc.)
  • 1st Offence: Kick from server (Depending on the severity, staff may determine to not kick player, and to just warn them, or ban them.)
  • 2nd Offence: Week ban & Warn
  • 3rd Offence: Permanent ban & Warn

Role Specific Guidelines

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Guidelines (All Roles)

Incendiary Grenades
  • You can not kill someone for throwing an incen grenade, unless that grenade is obviously thrown at other players and causes damages to other players.
  • 1st Offence: Verbal warning
  • 2nd Offence: (Continued warnings as Random Deathmatch)
Sabotaging a Traitor Tester
  • Destroying or otherwise making a tester inoperable is a traitorous act, and therefore KOSable.
Entering a Traitor Room
  • Entering a traitor room is a traitorous act, as traitors are the only ones able to open them. A player who is seen entering a T room may be KOSed at the discretion of other innocents.
Un-IDed Bodies
  • Walking past an unidentified body is not KOSable on our server. Unless a player is seen killing a player, or there is ‘physical’ evidence, it is not sufficient proof.
  • However, if you are caught carrying or disposing of an unidentified body, or a body that is established with DNA, you can be KOSed as it is a traitorous act.

Recognizing another player's traitorous strategies
  • Some players have certain strategies they use as traitors to kill innocents. Some innocents may become familiar with their methods and suspect them of being a traitor when they know that those methods are in use. If you recognize a player's methods, it is not KOSable, but rather you may call high suspicion.

Following
  • Following another player isn't against the rules, but do it at your own risk! People are allowed to tell you to stop following them, and if you don't stop following them after two warnings they have the right to shoot you.

Traitor Specific Guidelines

Traitor “RDMing”
  • Traitors can kill AFK players. Traitors can also prop kill. The only thing that is considered RDM by a traitor is killing another traitor.

Traitor Traps
  • If you are a traitor you need to warn your traitor buddies about traps. For example; slams, map specific traps, and C4. But, you will not be considered Random DMing if a t-buddy trips one of your traps. Please remember that you can see your traitor buddie's C4 timers in the HUD.

Detective Specific Guidelines

Claiming as Detective
  • On our server, as a detective you may claim an area.
    • It must be a room of reasonable size.
    • It can NOT block player access to a portion of the map. (i.e., middle room in the Minecraft tower.
    • If you are the detective and someone enters your claimed area you are required to warn that player three times before you are allowed to kill them.
    • If a player is running away from your claimed area you are not allowed to shoot them.

Detective Rules
  • Below are the details on the rules of being a detective at Unity Gaming.
    • You can not create rules on the fly as a detective such as, "KOS on person who turns off the lights." Or, "KOS on person who destroys the wooden bridge."
    • Detectives may force players to use the traitor tester. If the player won't test, the detective may call high suspicion on the player.

Detective Weapons and Shop Items
  • Taking or destroying Detective shop items.
    • Whether you are innocent or traitor, if you take any weapon or item from a live Detective, or destroy the Detective health station, it is a traitorous act and therefore, KOSable. Do it at your own risk!
  • Using the Detective's Health Station.
    • A detective may limit which players are allowed to use the health station (i.e., proven players), and may give warning to players who use it without permission before KOSing them.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Map Specific Rules

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charged Axe
  • The charged Axe is an item on the map "Rooftops". It is highly dangerous, and damages on contact. Charging the axe, or carrying the axe around in it's charged state, is KOSable.

The Rod
  • The rod is a spawnable item on the map "Lost Temple". It is similar to the charged axe, and is highly dangerous. However it can be used to make the innocents win, and so only killing other players is KOSable.

Golden/Diamond Blocks
  • The golden block and diamond ore blocks are items on the map "Minecraft". They are important for the innocents, as they help win the round and prove innocence. Putting the blocks out of reach of the innocents is a traitorous act, and therefore KOSable.

The Ocarina
  • The Ocarina is a tool that traitors can use to summon vision-obstructing rain, on the map "Kakariko". Players cannot KOS other players for being near the Ocarina when it is activated, as it's possible to activate it from a considerable distance. Player can however, call high suspicion.

Turrets
  • The turrets on the map "Airbus" can be activated to shoot any players that walk in front of it. This is a traitorous act and is KOSable.
