Let's discuss the new donor powers.
Sup, [TI] dudes and dudettes.

I don't wear a [Ti] tag in my name, but I'm quite confuzzled about the donation system. It is more than fuzzy, and many players on the server disagree with it.

My first issue is calling it a donation. If I were to "donate" to [Ti], all I am doing is PURCHASING points in the store and access to certain things. Can we just stop beating around the bush and calling it a purchase of in-game items in order to support Dansaur-kun?

Numero Dos is that the way "donations" are laid out makes me not want to purchase "donor" status. I have to go to a website behind a sketchy-looking, free co.nr domain and find information on some freeboards forum and then I have to purchase the donor and, finally, then I have to post on a PUBLIC forum my PayPal email address. No thanks.

Dansaur, I'm willing to host your community on my web server if you would like and give you access to FTP so you can do your own not-sketchy PayPal stuff.

Lastly, I feel that donors having access to weaponry as soon as the round starts is silly. It gives them an unfair advantage, especially on maps where weaponry is scarce.

Those are just mien multiple cents.

That's cute, Dark. Do you have anything constructive to post?
Thanks for your feedback.
Donations are necessary for every server, seeing as we have multiple sources that require payments; hosting the server itself, being first. Next there's all sorts of addons and scripts that you wouldn't find on public grounds such as the steam workshop. Those can get pricey as well.
Now we're not trying to force anyone to donate. On the contrary; we want to make donators just as equal as normal users. Every perk they get is either cosmetic or for convenience causes.
The rewards for donating are merely a sign of gratitude. We wouldn't want the people who contributed to the server to walk out empty handed, so we decided to reward them in a way we thought would be appropriate, and still not giving them unfair advantages.
You may claim that spawning with weapons is a bit unbalanced, but I think that is a subjective topic. I've rarely seen anyone die because he couldn't find a gun on the round start, and we don't tend to play maps that have a noticeable lack of guns in them.

Finally, regarding the way donations work; I'm glad you brought that up. I've been working on updating the page and making it an HTML menu so we'll no longer have to use free forums. It should be done by the time you read this message.

Thank you for your feedback once again.

Mine was too constructive for your tiny little brain.

As an Owner...I'm actually compelled to agree with a lot of these points.

You are technically correct. It isn't a true "donation" becuase we do give bonuses to people who do donate. While the sever isn't terribly expensive, there are upgrades that cost more money to implement for the server that make it more efficient, but that's not too much of an upgrade cost-wise. Donations will be used for keeping the server going so that we do not have to pay out of pocket, as well as upgrading it and compensating devs for working on it when the tech is a little past our abilities.

When we have enough money to keep the server going on donations alone, then...well, that for me would be the best possible scenario. I don't want to make money off you guys. I don't. I'd feel really bad about it. I just want to have a server going that I can keep as fair and fun as possible for everybody. It's hard to do, but I'm trying as best I can. This is a game for me. It's for fun. It's not supposed to be an investment or a business. I don't want to make money off you guys. If that ever happens, then something went wrong.

Overall, the point here is that I think the donation system was perhaps implemented a little too soon and without enough feedback from you guys, and we both take responsibility for that. I just want the server to be ran by a community who loves the game as much as I do.

On your second point...yes. I agree. It looks a bit shady. When I logged on and saw the screen for it...I was less than thrilled. We will certainly look into making it more professional or change how the setup is maintained. Most of all, though, I definitely do not want you to feel like your information or your business is any more private than is absolutely possible. Your concerns are very valid.

Thirdly, unfortunately, it was never my intention to make weapons purchasable. I was surprised to see the tab was even filled with anything. I agree that this is a poor addition and I agree that it should be removed. I am never in favor of anything that can give a player an actual non-aesthetic boost in the game. I bought and pay for this server to keep things as balanced and fair as possible, which is why certain skins and aesthetic perks will probably remain available, because it doesn't impact gameplay itself.

I honestly appreciate your feedback. Really. I'm glad you brought your concerns up.

Please note that I'm just a guy that plays TTT for fun. I bought this server and I don't have any previous owner or moderation experience, so I'm also learning a bit as I go. Feedback like this really helps me to get a grasp of the communities' concerns and move to correct them.

If you'd like to talk more about it, message me and I'll be glad to chat with you about it.
