Trading Forum - The Basic Rules
Since so many are unfamiliar with the agreements they agreed to and neglect reading the Rules and Guidelines just under the discussions. I'm pinning this very simple and easy to follow list of rules to help prevent scams, breaking the agreements you agreed to when setting up Steam, or our own Steam Group Rules & Chat Room Rules.

Also for those of you who are trading/offering/selling Game-keys it is not only up to the Steam Trading Card Group what is/isn't acceptable but it helps to read your Steam Subscriber Agreement specifically Article 10. I also recommend reading the software's EULA and 3rd party sites Rules & Regulations/F.A.Q./ToS/etc like HumbleBundle which clearly states that unless you mark your purchase as a gift you are unable to give away excess keys whether they be Steam or Origin.

General Rules
  • Trading or selling Steam Accounts is STRICTLY PROHIBITED by Valve and can/will lead to the account holder seller/buyer with a deactivated account.
  • DO NOT offer to trade or sell 3rd party Steam Game Keys (i.e "HumbleBundle" or "Origin", I am NOT referring to keys used in games like Dota 2 or TF2 but keys that unlock games). Please read the documents I listed above if you feel this is unfair. You will find yourself banned if trying to trade/offer a humble bundle steam key or other 3rd party acquisition and people are very happy to report such without your knowledge.
  • Please only offer trades of giftable Steam games, Steam Trading Cards, Steam Emoticons, and/or Steam Profile Backgrounds, and or Steam Coupons. Please do not offer any other means of trade like Money, Non-steam related coupons or items. Any post offering such will either be edited or deleted.
  • Any form of harassment, profanity, insulting users, or flaming/trolling will not be tolerated.
  • Post discussions in the appropriate location (even if regarding the trading system, if it's not a trade post in General Discussion).
  • Do not bump your post, most mods may overlook a 12hour bump, but will not miss the spam of reported posts showing "up" "bump" "bumped" "updated" (when not actually updated). We can see and review deleted posts.
  • Do not re-post your trades repeatedly. Edit your original post and make it clear what you updated in a new post.
  • Do not post your own personal [H]ave & [W]ant list in other peoples trade thread unless what you have is on their list. Ideally both Have and Want. In other words don't be rude and try and hijack someone's post.
  • Please do not beg for free items or even hint at it or joke about it (as jokes/humor rarely translate well through text and it's not really funny).
  • Please do not advertise your own group, youtube channel or your websites.
  • Please do not post referral links.
  • Please do not hold a Giveaway that requires money, joining a group, leaving the page it's being posted on. Obviously giving away stuff you no longer want is fine, can even point out donations (in the form of trades) are welcome.
  • Avoid any form of spam.

Steam Trading Group Chat Rules
  • Do not post more than once at a time (double+ posts whether separate posts or within a single post).
  • Do no re-post until your original offer/request has cleared the chat screen. By chat screen I mean the default GROUP chat screen and not a scaled down version of it (Default is roughly 1/4 your screen resolution). Allowing users a chance to trade themselves.
  • All the rules above "General Rules" also apply here.
  • Discussing trading is fine but please if you plan to get into a serious discussion take advantage of Private Messaging (right click on the users name in the list to the right and request chat).
  • Please do not emote bomb the chat or post one liners (i.e. "lalalalalala" or random characters that have no meaning or place in chat.).
  • Please avoid posting spaces in-between each line of your request bloating it.
  • Please avoid posting a massive list that takes up a significant amount of chat space. Instead consider posting your list in the Trading Discussion and linking it to chat. Otherwise cut it down.
  • Please do not post more than 2 images at a time (must be separate items) as 3 or more again takes up considerable space in most cases, but feel free to post 2 new images or re-post after your post has cleared the screen.
  • If kicked from chat please understand you were kicked for doing something wrong and were not banned which means either you were warned or made a massive post/spammed numerous images/broke a rule which in the end was a warning so also look for a private message from a Moderator which may or may not be present.
  • If you've been banned from Chat for whatever reason. Please avoid breaking Steam rules and arguing with a moderator over the ban. Please try and contact the moderator directly through Steam friends after you've clearly read these rules before making any request for a ban be lifted. There is no guarantee your ban will be lifted as we check our logs.

This list was made again for those who struggle to find the rules and is here to help you more than it is to help us moderators/officers. We hope it's done and hope you're able to find the items you're looking for!

Do not bump your post, most mods may overlook a 12hour bump, but will not miss the spam of reported posts showing "up" "bump" "bumped" "updated" (when not actually updated). We can see and review deleted posts.

Just to clarify:

A single thread bump is allowed in a 12 hour period. That is a single bump per a user, not per a thread. Bumping multiple threads at a time will not be allowed as it would not be fair to others if someone bumple several threads and takes over the first page of the trade forum.

If your thread has been locked due to bumping multiple posts with in a 12 hour period or due to bumping the thread multiple times in a 12 hour period, you must wait 12 hours before reposting the thread.
